Maybe it is just me, but have announcers at basketball games gotten out of hand with their monster truck-like announcements? I listened to the game Saturday night on the radio, and the EWU announcer drove me nuts. Everytime a play happened that benefitted EWU, no matter how minor, he announced it with what sounded like an air-raid alarm. Seriously, is "OUT OF BOUNDS, EAGLES" really something to be that excited about?
I can see a great 3 pointer to tie or take the lead, maybe a spectacular jam, or a steal and lay-up that turns the tide of a game, but to announce every event liek it was spectacular cheapens the game. Montana's announcer is just as bad, 1/2 the time I can't understand what he is yelling because he is trying to sound so excited. The same goes with recorded music being played so loud you can't talk to the person next to you, and flashing "noise" signs on the readerboards.
Maybe I am old fashioned, but I can watch the game and feel when to cheer or get excited, I don't need the announcing staff to tell me how or when to do it.
