High Hopes?

Postby GrizGuy on Thu Sep 25, 2003 12:08 pm

What's everybody's take on UM hoops?
Coach seems to like his team's chances of winning the Big Sky, which would earn a trip to "The Big Dance..." That's only a couple of steps from a Sweet 16, ain't it?
I dunno.. I do believe he's the man to get the program where it needs to be, but I also think it's going to take a few more years to get his own recruits in to see his plan reach it's full potential.
The problem, IMHO, is that w/o fairly quick success, it's gonna be harder to recruit the best players. He's got a tough road ahead, and I wish the coach and players the best. I hope to see them play in March.

IMO the Griz should be very tough this year, especially if they don't have to suspend anyone this year and can keep all the starters playing, and Brent Cummings returns. Looks like we are very strong in the forward postion, but weak at the point and thin at center, and overall not a tall team, especailly if we make it to the big dance. Good 3 point shooters in Cummings and Criswell should help open the floor, though and Chavez can play anywhere on the floor when he gets his head into the game.

EWU should also be good this year, but I think this is the best Griz team in years, and we should be hosting the tourney.

The Grizz are going to pull a rat football and win the conferance after a steller non-conferance record.

1-6? Where did that stat come from? The guys team is 3-8, which may not be good, but still isn't 1-6. The ladies are friggin' awesome this year, so you weren't talking about them.

The only thing of importance for the big sky tournament is that everybody is 0-0. So until the team drops a couple big sky games, yeah, I still do think both teams are going to host both tourneys.
