I have heard the rumor that Johnny Durocher is back in the mix for Montana. He and Chambers are pretty good friends, and are thinking of both transferring.

Losing Meyer, 3 starting receivers, and a T.E. to graduation, I'd just as soon see us give Peerboom (meyer's backup) a chance and/or develop from within. Just thinking long term.

With all the transfers, YSU sounds more like a junior hockey league team than a college football program.

I heard that he suffered a career ending injury (either neck or back).

We may be loaded at transfers but the actual recruits have proved very tough; with exception of Marcus Mason and James Terry on D; Our starters were all Heacock's Recruits.

We got some big one's from NE Ohio Coming as well!

If they changed the rules to make transfers to I-AA the same as I-A (sit out a season), I would love it.

Excuse Me..
What's thats supposed to mean. The 4 National Titles; The 22,000 Seat Stadium; the tradition and Youngstown!

1. Its his hometown
2. He played at the Ice Castle while in High School when they won the State Championship.
3. YSU is loaded on transfers next year; 3 of which are Swogger's former High School Teammates.

Again I talk to him on a weekly basis and I'd be shocked to see him go there. He told me "I want to come home and YSU is my favorite."

Lets take it a little more personal.....

How many times do those of us in Eastern Washington have to say it?

SWOGGER IS NOT THAT GOOD.

I hope he doesn't wind up at Montana... nothing aginst him personally, but I wouldn't want to waste any sort of recruiting fuel there. He couldn't start at a shitty WSU team, what makes anyone think he'd be anything other than average in I-AA?

Not that good? ,we will not know until he gets a full year to see what he can do .I beleive he will fit in nicely with the Griz helping to mold the younger QB's.By the way if he plays at WSU this year, alot of people think we would be bowling right now. I really believe YSU is sticking with who they got and Montana and Swogger is a nice fit.

Best QB here in Ohio in 2000 and that is saying something with the quality of athletes in my state. Not that good? He was starting at a BCS Division School.

You got it.

He lost the starting job at a school that would've been middle-of-the-pack in the Big Sky conference this year, and probably a bottom feeder in the Gateway.

He may have been great in high school and he had a reasonably competent couple games against foes like Idaho, Arizona, and New Mexico State in his freshman and sophomore seasons. He's an injury magnet and hasn't even performed up to the not-that-headturningly-great level he was at last year since breaking his foot. There's just no indication that he's got Division I standout ability.

I've got no animus towards him. I don't care about I-A ball in Washington. Who knows, he could light it up in I-AA. I just don't see it and would hate to see UM burn resources trying to get him. Good luck to him, though.

I disagree Where.
WSU was not that bad of a team. A couple of close games go the other way and they are bowling. Nobody in the BSC would have beat WSU this year.
As for Swogger, he sounds like he would do just fine in 1AA. I was against a QB with only 1 year, but Rondo might be right, he could be a good fix for our situation.
YSU probably has the best shot with the hometown roots and YSUReturn seems to have the inside info on Swogger's desires.

So? There are plenty of Heisman winners that totally sucked in the NFL. Being a top-notch HS QB doesn't mean anything. He has to prove he belongs at the level he is at.

That being said, I don't want a one year "fix". I hope the Cats don't get him.

Only thing u want is a Win over the griz...

I think the cats need a "fix" because without lulay, I predict the cats aint gonna be shit next year. Just another 3-8 team (maybe 3-9)

U heard it here first

bozeman paper

Postby H-townGriz on Mon Dec 05, 2005 1:34 am

The Bozeman paper says that Swooger will visit UM this weekend and he was impressed by the fact that Bobby and Ty drove through a snowstorm to visit him.. Also looks like he is a little put off by Kramers timeline for him to make a call on msu.

I know Swogger visited EWU recently, and I could honestly see him going there next year for a few reasons.

-EWU is losing a top-notch QB to graduation in Eric Meyer
-Out of all the I-AA schools he may be looking at, Eastern is the closest to Pullman
-EWU has a reputation of producing a high-powered offense year in an year out......

Definitely a few incentives for him to go there. I think he would be an ok fit, and we certainly need a QB, even if it's for only 1 year.

I talked to someone today who is much closer to Griz FB than I am, He tells me Swogger coming to UM is basically a done deal. I hope so.

I hope this isn't true. this guy sounds like a prima donna. besides he's a one-year fix -- maybe. even ochs took until his second year to get going. i'd rather keep developing cole or get a transfer with two years to play.

Well when it comes to transfers we can't just put in an order for what we want. I know all thoses other school would take him in a second, despite the cats now trying to act like they never wanted him.

I don't want to go that direction, but would support him obviously if he came. We definately need better play from QB, we know that.

looks like the cat fans decided they don't want him based on the article in the bozeman paper. can't say i blame them. that's partly why i don't want him. but mostly because he's a senior. it'll take 3-4 games for him to get up to speed. if he washes out, then we are right back where we started.

There's no way the griz will sign swogger! I know this because wolfie told us all so, and we all know how often his is right.

Hauck has about as much chance in signing Swogger as he does Matt Leinhart.
