Totally agree, I was just suprised that Petrino was offered the job, I'd never heard him mentioned as a candidate. But Petrino does have one the best offensive schemes around, and I'm sure Davis liked that.

So, basically, Al Davis will be coaching the team again next year.
Paranoid, jumpsuit-wearing freakshow. Get the hell out of the league. That market should be able to have a winning team by virtue of location. He is the reason they suck.
Being the HC of the Raiders is like being the manager of the Yankees, the owners are similar in many ways. Except the Yankees have a bunch of all-star players while the raiders usually have a bunch of duds. Its the worst of both worlds...

Gotta disagree with you big time there Re/Max. That might have been a fair comparison years ago, but Steinbrenner doesn't tell Torre who to play. He also hires the best Managers where Davis usually hires those with no head coaching experience. Steinbrenner also pays top dollar. Torre has outlasted numerous Raider Coaches, there is NO COMPARISON.
That and the fact that Joe Torre may get threatened with his job every year, he never actually loses. Whereas Raider coaches lose their jobs pretty often.

Torre is in his 11th season with the Yankees and has won the Divison 8 straight seasons. Since 1996 the Raiders have had 6 Head Coaches if you count the vacancy they have now.
