Obviously from the lack of NASCAR posts here Griz hans are too highbrow for NASCAR talk, but who watched the race today, and what did you think?
My thoughts:
1) The old Tony Stewart is back. how can you wreck a guy for taking the air off your car, then not admit some culpability? I'm looking for Tony to be suspended at some point this year for anger management issues, except his sponsor will buy his way out. IMO Stewart should have been packed after intentionally wrecking Kennseth - Stewart's defense? He took the air of my door so he got what was coming to him. Road rage is rewarded (as long as your sponsor will put big $$$ in NASCAR's pockets)
2) I was impressed with Junior's maturity after the race. I think he has made a lot of progress, and as much as I don't want to like him I do.
3) I'm a conspiracy theorist all the way, but after watching the whole week of pre-race coverage I thought we were seeing NF:/Pittsburgh all the way - the fact that Jr. or Gordon didn't win it after the pre-race hype was amazing - but then again, a Hendricks car did win with a crew chief who had been suspended for cheating(LOWE'S no less) so conspiracy is still in full effect.
4) Carl Edwards and Kyle Petty showed more class than I can ever remember in NASCAR. Carl for taking responsibility for wrecking Kyle, Kyle for saying it wasn't his fault. Taking that responsibility might not win championships, but it makes you a champion in my book.

I liked Newmans comment that they really need to look at Jimmie's car as three of his past four wins have had issues with NASCAR specs. It is crazy that Smoke Stewart raises a fuss last week and then goes out the way he did. He will never replace Dale Sr., but I like to know that there is a man in black. The one I can't stand is Kyle Bush. The kid can race the hell out of his car but he makes critical mistakes and is a little too aggressive out there. It looks to be a fun NASCAR season and can't wait to see what else unfolds.
"Well, why not 112%? Why not 500 percent or 1,300 percent or 38 billion percent? I mean if he can crank it up beyond 100%, why not? What's stopping him exactly?" ----Floyd Landis to Outside Magazine on athletes saying they gave 110%
