OK lets look back;

Can you imagine the conservative reaction if news leaked that Bill Clinton/Al Gore/John Kerry was illegally wiretapping American citizens and refused to talk about it? They'd be up in arms screaming for impeachment.

Can you imagine if Al Gore/Joe Lieberman/John Edwards accidentally shot a man while hunting and didn't disclose it to the press until the next day? Conservatives would be wondering what they were covering up and want an investigation.

Can you imagine if Bill/Al/John appointed a bunch of political "buddies" to important government posts? Conservatives would be pissed, screaming to appoint someone who is actually qualified for the job.

Can you imagine if Bill/Al/John ignored tested research to set their policies, what would the conservative reaction be if they ignored tested studies? Or if they set their evironmental policies by only meeting with Earth First and the Sierra Club?

Can you imagine if Bill/Al/John sold a bunch of our ports within our borders to a country of Arab rule or Middle Eastern location? Conservatives would be fuming mad!

Hmm.. a little heated post there. Sorry guys, just got a little worked up. But honestly if a Democrat president was doing some of the stuff that was going on today, like ignoring studies, or concealing the truth wouldn't you guys be upset?

And to be honest, I would demand accountability if a Democrat president did that. I was pissed the Bill lied, and I'd be pissed and demand accountability if a president of any party was doing what our current leadership is doing.

Clinton did wiretap citizens of the USA and I can say I wasn't that pissed off about it.

If Gore/Lieberman/Edwards shot a guy while hunting, I would care even less than I do now, it has nothing to do with how this country is ran in any way.

Bill/Al/John did appoint political buddies, every president/party does this when he's elected.

As far as the policies you say they ignored, I say they didn't.

I would agree with Charles Manson if he said we shouldn't lease our ports out to ANY foreign country. (even if they are an ally)

If my aunt had balls, would she be my uncle? Does this qualify as meaningful speculation?

Upon an evenings reflection it might. I guess my point was that if the shoe was on the other foot I would think conservatives would be very upset with the way the country is going, thats all.

Yes, we have a good economy, lower taxes and low unemployment.

We have a decent economy, lower taxes, but a higher defecit, and I believe the only net gain in empkoyment since Bush took office has been military and defense.

Re/Max: So then it's your position that the gain in employment is due to the military and defense? So then these people were unemployed previously? Is their military/defense employment good, or bad?

We have a GOOD economy... interest rates are low, and you must have personally and professionally benefitted from the very low mortgage rates..... and the deficit is higher than I'd like it, but it isn't choking the economy. Maybe you'd rather have a "nice guy" like Jimmy in the White House... when there were serious gas shortages (i.e. RATIONING!), interest rates of 17%, and high unemployment. ???? eh?

Interest rates are good, but they're creeping. The "housing bubble" is a hot topic right now.

I'd rather have a great guy like Bill Clinton in helllooo surplus. Get the national debt paid off and then drop taxes so the nation is trying for a "break even."

I'm wondering if we are seeing the effects of the defecit choking the economy. We're selling ports within our borders. In Montana there's talk the new budget will close down 5 Native American Health Clinics, after school programs are being cut. Personally I veiw that as being "choked" by our defecit.

1) We are not SELLING ports within our border... we are bidding out the contract to RUN the ports.
2) Hell... didn't Montana just give your favorite Governor Schweitzer a $30 million SURPLUS...? And, if that's true about after-school-programs... are teacher's salaries frozen?

Again... I just find it very interesting that in one thread you are talking about all of the cutting that the Bush Administration is doing... and then the next post you're screaming about the "out of control" deficit. Yes.. I understand why you're a democrat.

The cuts make me mad, and the spending makes me mad too. Repeal many of the tax cuts and balance the budget like it was before Bush screwed it up, that'll solve some problems. (at least some of my political concerns)

..yes, and return to the pre 9/11 America and that will solve some more problems. Wish it were that easy...

BTW: You are aware that it's Congress that passes the budget? I know it's the President's budget and all... but don't forget that Congress has the ultimate authority with the budget.

But right now PZ, it's Bush's proposed budget, so I've got the beef with him.

Is it me or if they had their way conservatives would usher in a new age, it would no longer be 2006 but 5PN (5 years past nine-eleven).

The defecit spending won't take us back to pre-9/11 gov't, I think thats just a scare tactic. We're aware of the terrorist threat, its impossible to "go back" now.
