Lots of last minute shopping, of course ESPN radio doesn't care about the Ms, but there's some interesting rumors out there, like the Sox trying to trade Crisp & one of their top prospect pitchers to the Braves for Andrew Jones. Wonder if the Ms could try to send Ibanez that way? Probably not a good fit, Raul isn't really a center fielder...

As expected, the M's did nothing at the deadline:

Still, that may have been the best deal of all, actually. Although I would love to see Jason Schmidt in an M's uniform.

Jason has mentioned on a couple of occaisions he would like to get back to Seattle if he doesn't stay in SF. He would have a great record if they ever got him some run support. The only pitcher getting less is Clemens.

An 'in-game' joke about him giving up two bombs in the first inning yesterday.

Well, the "trade deadline" is gone but the waiver wire deals will still happen. Mark my words - the best "trades" of the year are yet to come.

The M's cupboard is getting a bit thin to be buying any players now anyway.

...and on cue, the Red Sox acquire Javy Lopez in a waiver deal. Lopez plays while Varitek is on the DL, then goes to the bench.
