Baek Called Up

Postby getcrunk on Tue Aug 22, 2006 11:08 am

Baek has been called up to join the rotation. He gets the start tonight vs. the Yanks. Good luck young fella, Yanks bats are hot right now.

Holy crap thats a stupid move, look at Baek's stats from AAA, his big problem was the long ball, he's going to get torched 2nite if he's not on his "A" game.

Baek always gets scorched if his control isn't perfect. The Safe should hold at least some of the fly balls that he'll give up but the lefties in that Yankee lineup could have a field day. He's had a good year, so I guess he deserves the callup. I would have preferred to see Cruceta myself.

Shrug - I have a tough time getting riled up about anything at this point. They will probably audition four or five young starters from here on out. Cruceta will get his chance and so, too, will Livingston and maybe Blackley. The team has to fill three holes in the rotation for next year and at least one of them has to come from within.

Let's hope that Ichiro is in center and Snelling in right again tonight. Seeing Willy Bloomquist in the starting lineup is one of the few things that will still piss me off.

Grover indicated yesterday that Ichiro's move to center was a semi-permanant thing, so I suspect we'll see a lot of it with Snelling in right.

i kinda liked the Ichiro in center idea too..anyone but Willie. I like Willie, hes a good man, but he just doesnt have the stats. And i like Adam, but he does need some time. im praying that we score at least 2 tonight...the Yanks do have a rook on the mound tonight too, but i think that murderous lineup will torch Baek. Anything else good on tv tonight :deadhorse:

Ichiro in CF and Snelling in RF is something worth getting excited about, provided Snelling can stay healthy. And provided that Hargrove doesn't submit to his man-crush on Willy F'ing Bloomquist and give that no-talent ass-clown 20 starts.

Snelling is one of GrizBiz's personal favorites and has been for years. He's got the best batting eye and quickest wrists on the team. Watch the bat speed that he generates. Crickey! His bat is so fast that he can wait on a breaking ball until it's practically in the catcher's mitt before he swings. His swing is a thing of beauty.

Plus, he's wacky in that Aussie-way that I like. He'd be fun to drink beer with. Come to think of it, every Australian that I've ever met is fun to drink beer with.
