Most of you have only lived in Montana small towns and frankly, you don't know what a thug or gangster might be. Montana is a great state, however, living here is a sheltered environment with little exposure to the real world that exists outside our walls.

This is the dumbest excuse ever, you guys should be able to come up with something better than that. It's almost as dumb as a Ronblow post, but not quite.

There's an old Chapelle skit called, "Say what you mean." Reading these posts filled with poorly shrouded biggotry is quite amusing. I've gotten a few chuckles out this thread.
Kramer came into the job with absolutely no talent pool. He took the same route that the Cincinnati Bengals did to field a competitive team: recruit (take players in the draft) who's stock had fallen due to off the field issues. Many times, they got great players on the cheap. However, as Kramer found out, you recruit enough players with baggage, and it's going to catch up with you.
It's not racist to point out that more blacks are convicted of crimes in this country than whites. However, what most fail to realize is 50% of black children are also born under the poverty line. I would love to see what this country was like if the same held true for white kids. I also don't believe that black people are some how inclined to violence and crime. That notion is absolutely ridiculous. We're all human beings, born with the exact same brain.
It's easy to sit on a computer in Butte, Montana, and judge kids who have come from absolutely nothing. People born in Montana seem to have no concept of the ghetto and some of the enviroments some of these kids are from.

It sounds to me like he is making an excuse for how certain people behave. I criminal is a criminal no matter where you come from.
---Oh, he's from the hood... it's okay then, but his friend grew up in a middle class subdivision in Montana, so we'll arrest him because HE should have known better.---

I have in the past heard a lot of Kramer apologists play the "recruiting is an inexact science" and "bad luck" cards when discussing Kramer's role in the recent legal trouble at MSU. While these are true to an extent, I have extreme difficulty believing that all the players involved in the MSU drug ring were able to completely pull the wool over Kramer and his staff's eyes while they were being recruited. Was I surprised to hear that Gatewood was busted for dealing? Not at all. Why? It all goes back to the to the day when Mr. Gatewood made his most lasting impression on me. Unfortunately, it wasn't the 200+ receiving yard game he had against the Griz. Rather, it was when I saw him on TV donning his "gansta-thug" get-up and touting himself as "Greatwood" during the player introductions of the Griz-Cat game. Those 4 seconds were all Mr. Gatewood needed to convince me that he is NOT someone I would want on my team, as in those 4 seconds he showed that a) He is in it for himself and not the team, and b) he embraces the hip-hop "gansta" culture, which in turn, embraces things like killing cops and drug dealing. As they say - if it walks like a duck, quacks likes a duck, it's probably a duck. In no way am I suggesting that all kids who wear doo-rags and shorts pulled down are drug dealers, but if a kid chooses to present himself to the public as such, the chances are astronomically higher that he conducts himself in a manner that is celebrated in the rap songs of his role models. Recruiting talent to Bozeman is tough, and Kramer took the ultimate gamble, but lost in the end. Play with fire too many times, and you will get burned. Kramer is a good person and a good coach, but the MSU administation made the right decision to let him go. Not even three wins over the Griz and one in the playoffs is worth the price that MSU is paying now.

You call it ironic. I call it sad. All of it. I feel bad for both schools and I think Kramer was screwed by a knee jerk reaction. Let's hope U of M doesn't make the same mistake.
i think that it is sad that some people can give some of these kids a pass on what they have done because of where they were raised. how can you give someone a pass for killing another human being? can you really blame how they were raised for what they do off the field? how is that where they came from have anything to do with selling coke NOW? unbelievable. there is only one explanation for these kids, both UM and MSU students, they are idiots. its simple. they are just idiots.

Id rather not talk about it right now. Sore subject
Dr Buss (Lakers owner since 79) just said that he isnt trading Kobe. KG coming to L.A.
I hate the Lakers as a Celtic fan, but I love the Lakers as a basketball fan... more like the Lakers of old, but you get my drift. Storied team... slightly less storied than the Celtics (but having better luck in the last 15 years).
I love how all you guys can talk about is race, it's really sad, leave it to Montana. And how how many 'white' 'blue' 'red' people walk around thinking they're all 'hard' and how many people judge, probably not too many cause oh wait they're not 'black', they couldn't commit a crime. That's a bunch of crap. And not wanting service because of someone's appearance is pretty damn shallow.

I don't know about you, but I've noticed the last four or five threads have been about the Lakers/Basketball/Kobe staying or leaving.
And what the hell are you talking about with the not wanting service because of someones appearance?
And who is all you guys? Who's talking about race? I think 90% of what is talked about on egriz is football and how Bobcat fans take it in the a$$ (couldn't resist). Maybe .08% of the topics deal with race... including this topic. But I hijacked the topic and turned it into a Sports topic... I'm tired of the race thing.

You know what is even MORE dope? KG went to the Celtics. I might add he's thriving as a Celtic. He wouldn't as a Laker. Kobe can't share the lime-light.
