Vote for Monte

Monte is once again on the Capital One All-America Mascot Team, made up of 12 lovable, hard-working and oddly-proportioned characters deemed the best of the beasts. And the fuzz and fur are flying as the 12 vie for the most coveted title in the land -- “Capital One Mascot of the Year.”

Monte will take on weekly challengers over an 11-week schedule. This week, the featured matchup is Montana's Monte versus BYU's Cosmo.

Vote here (click the Vote tab): http://www.capitalonebowl.com/Default.aspx

Stay in the game and vote every day!

Some of you should remember that Monte won the first and third mascot competitions in 2002 and 2004. Monte's challengers by week:

1 Cosmos (BYU)
2 Goldy Gopher (Minnesota)
3 Hairy Dawg (Georgia)
4 Otto (Syracruse)
5 Cocky (South Carolina)
6 Zippy (Akron)
7 Hokebird (Virgina Tech)
8 Big Red (Western Kentucky)
9 Seymore (S Miss)
10 Joe Bruin (UCLA)
11 Cavman (Virginia)

CSN West: The Gateway Garners FCS Attention in Week Two

Kent Schmidt, CSN Columnist

[Note: Schmidt is a North Dakota State fan and since his Bison are moving to the Gateway Conference next year, his article doesn't have much on the West. So, if you want to read that stuff, follow the link.]

http://www.collegesportingnews.com/article.asp?articleid=87397

My newest ‘West’ conference of the Gateway may only have seven schools in it at the present time but in Week 2, it was the highlight conference of all of FCS over the past weekend. Not only did Northern Iowa defeat the Big 12’s Iowa State, Southern Illinois also defeated a FBS school in in-state rival Northern Illinois.

After eating an entire bull, a mountain lion felt so good he started roaring. He kept it ....up until a hunter came along and shot him. The moral: When you're full of bull, keep .... your mouth shut. -- Will Rogers
