Looks like we are battling with Cowboy Joe. Who will win this battle?

Depends on if the kid ever wants to throw a pass on 1st down.

As per earlier discussion on Josh Stuberg out of Helena High---got a confirmation on this from, ahem, shall we say a very good source. He has signed a LOI and is ready to make it official on Signing Day.

Looks like he would red-shirt and they are talking about developing his body a little more and then using his speed at linebacker. Keep your eyes out for him. Would love to see Ryan Featherston at DE and Josh at LB.

They join a fine Helena tradition of recent Griz T.J. Oelkers, Shane MacIntyre, Conor Molloy, and of course Dan Carpenter and Mike Ferriter from this year's roster. Tony Arntson should receive some kind of recruiting award (altho Shane MacIntyre is from Capital).

Need to keep that Helena pipeline open. They seem to churn out great players every year. Both of those highschools do teriffic every year. Too bad we didn't work on Daly when he was looking for somewhere to play.

If he picks Wyoming does this put to bed who is the better recruiter?

Wyoming, no facilities, crappy town, very average team.

Montana, great facilities, decents town, very average team.

Wyoming has no facilities? Sorry, but most college fans will say that Wyoming's newly renovated 32,000 seat football stadium, modern 15,000 seat basketball arena and indoor practice facility best our facilities by any reasonable standard.

I must admit, the BBall Arena looks badass, but the FB stadium isn't anything special.

And yeah, I doubt anyone's really concerned with the alcohol dismissal, while it was not the brightest thing to do, what kid in high school has not gone to a few parties or got drunk?

He's a solid pickup.

We also have a new Football/Soccer indoor practice facility. A full length field. Stadium is slated for new luxury boxes and renovation over the next two years.

Wyo facilities are quite good actually and getting better.

We already went head to head on recruiting an Idaho falls Linebacker and he just verballed to Wyo. You may get the QB since we are changing OC and this recruit supposedly liked Cockhill.

Who is josh Leonard out of Helena? he is a grayshirt coming to Wyo or he came in the spring not sure?

I enjoyed living in Laramie. Nice quiet small town. good spot close to Denver but not too close.

I've lived and attended college in Laramie and Missoula, and there's no comparison when it comes to which is the better "college town". It's ok, I guess, if you don't mind the wind, the snow, and the isolation...although you can go to Ft. Collins or Denver once in awhile.

Just yesterday in a newspaper article Steve McClain, ex-Cowboy basketball coach and now an assistant at Colorado, mentioned how difficult it was to recruit to Laramie. But then last night Colorado came to Arena Auditorium in Laramie and got beat by the Pokes.

However, anyone who says Wyoming has poor facilities has no idea of what they're talking about.

B-poke---- you asked about Josh Leonard of Helena High. He is currently a senior and just finished his season at Defensive End. He's got the size and frame to make a defensive line coach drool---6'4" and 240 now and could easily put another 30 or 40 pounds on his frame.

Chad Germer has used his Montana connections to get to Leonard. I would describe Leonard as a potential diamond in the rough, but there are definitely question marks. He seems pretty slow and not particularly aggressive. For all his physical prowess I expected him to be much more dominant at the high school level, but in the games I saw he was often single-blocked and didn't seem to be in the mix that much.

Curious that he is going to Wyo as a gray shirt. Is Wyo short on schollies this year? or does the gray shirt indicate that they aren't really sold on the kid?

My quick take on Josh Leonard is that he needs to find a few higher gears in his motor if he expects to ever play Division 1 football. Right now I'd say a big question mark.

Not a shortage of scholarships. Wyo gives about 25 a year as per NCAA rules. I think they are not quite sold on him but, like you, see him as a long shot worth the opportunity.

If Barry is choosing schools based on offensive coordinators then I wouldn't predict that UM is his favorite.

TF, if all you got out of that was he was choosing UW because of the OC, buy a clue. It was more a statement of his personal like of Cockhill, and nothing to do with RP or the new OC at UW.

You can have Stuberg! He wasn't at a party he was caught in a bar by one of the assistant coaches at Helena High. The coach was going to let in go by telling him to get out of the bar, Stuberg basically toal him to FO and stayed. The assistant coach then told Arnston and then he was penalized 32 days. Could have come back and played the final 2 or 3 games but eleceted to not play. Sounds like a winner to me. Good luck with this one!

Word has it that Tyzer Cady from Colstrip will be joining the Griz. Last year's class B 100m champion. Good all around athlete.

Tyzer Cady of Colstrip has made a verbal commitment to join the University of Montana football team.

As a three-year starter for the Colts, Cady has been an all-conference selection the past two seasons and was an all-state pick this fall.

In the last two seasons Cady has rushed for 1,135 yards, and has also caught 26 passes for 445 yards. This season he returned three kickoffs for touchdowns.

Cady is also the defending Class B 100 meter dash champion.

Didn't they learn this year that just having the largest O-line doesn't mean the best O-line?

Did you actually watch the highlight video available in that link? That kid is a frickin horse! I doubt he'll come here, but that would be great to have him.
