Tinkle led Big Sky to the school's first girls' hoops title since 1988, averaging 19.8 points, 9.2 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 1.8 steals while shooting 57.5 percent from the field and 77.3 from the foul line. She is rated the No. 13 junior in the nation by HoopGurlz and is one of just 25 players categorized as a five-star talent by the prospect-ranking service.

The daughter of University of Montana men's basketball coach Wayne Tinkle and former UM and C.M. Russell High hoops standout Lisa (McLeod) Tinkle, Joslyn maintains a 3.88 GPA. She volunteers for Special Olympics and has served as a Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership representative as part of a national initiative that provides lifelong leadership and development opportunities for high school students.

If people really want Joslyn Tinkle to play for the Lady Griz, they probably should be nice to her dad.

And if she signs to play somewhere else, her dad probably will be looking for work someplace else after spring 2009.

Why would this be?? Many parents send their sons\daughters away to college and they do not quit their employment. Jeff Fisher did not stop coaching Tennessee when his son went to Montana.

We have been very nice to her dad. We GAVE him a head job here because we like him so much. Then we GAVE him 3 years to figure out how to do it. We are VERY nice to him.

What's this we stuff? You had nothing to do with any of it.

Anaconda native here, so...

Is it possible that Jocelyn would want to play with Ali Hurley? I know Jocelyn is the better player and all, but have the two played together? Are they friends? Anybody know?

BTW, I checked out that Hoopgurlz site, and Ali, while again being no Jocelyn, is rated three stars and #106 overall for 2008 (third best three star). That is not too shabby. In fact, I think that's the kind of athlete we are hoping the presence of Jocelyn can help the LG get on a regular basis (just so happens we get some already, anyway. Just need them on a regular basis).

I think it is fair to say Ali and Joslyn are best friends.

Really? You just messing with me? #naughty

Well, FYI, I took another look at Hoopgurlz and realized that they put them in alphabetical order after the first 100 players, but by first name. #lame

But still, I think three stars is pretty good. Girls on there with no stars are going to big-time schools.

No, I am not messing with you. I wouldn't do that when it comes to a potential LG/Griz recruit.

They play on the same AAU team in most tournaments and i'm assuming they have an honest friendship as most teammates do whom play with one another is several tourneys year after year.

As much as I would love to have Joslyn remain in Missoula and be a standout student/athlete/citizen for UM, I find myself intrigued by the fact we could be able to watch her play for Stanford in a final four. I did not realize this and get this feeling until I started watching Stanford in the tourney. She could do great things for UM, but the chances of going past the second or third round may be minute compared to going to the final four with the Cardinal. No matter what she decides, it will be tremendous being able to follow her path wherever she goes.

More like a poke fan who has watched the best ever girls BB player in Wyo HS leave for Stanford a few years ago and can relate to the situation.

Kristen Newell dominated the WYo/Mont all star game and then left for Stanford. Was a sad day

c'mon, expecting to see joslyn in a final four at stanford is stretching it a bit. this is their first trip in eleven years, and it's on the strength of an exceptional once-in-a-generation athlete in candice wiggins. if you want to see joslyn in a final four, you should be urging her to go to uconn or tennessee or l.s.u. or even rutgers, where she'd be another out-of-town gunslinger, as at kansas, where not one of their top eight players was from the state showing on their uniform, and not a single kid from kansas played in last night's game.

The WNBA is a joke and there's not a big difference between UM's attendance/support/facilities and the top 25 teams. I'm guessing the top factors will be location and education.

Stanford degree > UM degree

Missoula, MT > Piscataway, NJ, Baton Rouge, LA, etc . . .

ROFL Montana averaged 4 more fans a game than Stanford pretty close. Louisville average over 2,500 more a game than Montana, Rutgers was higher as well.

Montana does very well but you list is off.

you list off? uh, well, actually I used the ncaa 2006-07 numbers so they actually were accurate, unless the ncaa was in error. I know you are excited about WY of the last couple years, and rightfully so, but UM has been nationally ranked in attendance for about 25 years, WY for maybe 2-3.
