Blaine Taylor has no ties to Arizona basketball or Lute other than being an assistant at Stanford that competed against UA. I find it hard to believe he would even be rumored to replace Olson when there are a lot of former Arizona assistants or players who would make good successors. The other day Lute said he has no immediate plans to retire so who replaces him is probably far off.

Since OSU has done a lot to improve to it's facilities and make it's sport programs more appealing to recruits and Taylor has shown he can coach and recruit the right players for his system so it could turn out to be the right fit. I know back in 2002 OSU went after Few hard and he turned them down and the reason that was rumored was he just felt OSU was a bad job because of their facilities and overall appeal.

Looks like Grier may be headed to OSU.

Grier tells San Diego media he has not been offered the position ... said talks still ongoing

7:02 p.m. Tuesday ...

From the San Diego Union-Tribune website, after reporters were able to speak with San Diego coach Bill Grier before the team's post-season awards banquet.

USD basketball coach Bill Grier said Tuesday night he has talked with Oregon State about taking the job as Beavers head coach, but has not been offered the position. Grier, who talked to the media after addressing his team Monday night at USD before the team's postseason awards banquet, said the Oregon State job is a "great opportunity," but for now he remains the head basketball coach at USD.

Grier said talks with Oregon State are ongoing, and there is no timetable for a decision on the job. He said the decision about whether to take the job if it is offered will depend on a number of things. Grier is from Oregon, and his mother lives in Silverton, Ore.

Stay tuned.

Semantics here? ... we have been told that the job is Grier's, if he wants it.

Those of you on the Larry Eustachy watch, maybe there is still hope, eh?
