When Doba stepped down at the end of November they had 3 2-star recruits, then it took another month to hire Wulf - the fact that he had a full class was amazing.
A lot of the teams ahead of WSU are on the rise in the PAC-10.. including Arizona. Doesn't surprise me at all, given the short recruiting time he had at WSU.
Oregon State is always near the bottom in their recruiting class rankings, yet they continue to outperform teams that have 'better' classes then they do.
The Pac-10 is becoming a very strong conference. There aren't any easy conference games in the Pac-10. All the teams are either very competitive nationally or moving in that direction.
USC - obviously a perennial top 5 team nationally.
UCLA - Very competitive nationally. Neuheisel and Chow have brought a lot of excitement, along with a strong 2008 class.
Washington - Their recruiting has been very strong recently. Jake Locker is going to make them competitors again.
ASU - Erickson is a prestigious coach. They were ranked in the top 5 at one point. They'll be contenders again soon.
Oregon - were ranked #2 at one point. If the get Terrelle Pryor they'll be dangerous.
California - were ranked #2 at one point. Always a tough team.
Arizona -
Stanford - Harbough looks like a good coach. Beat USC. Signed a 5 star QB this year. Will surely improve.
Oregon State -
Washington State - Wulff
The conference is improving from top to bottom. It's a very exciting and dynamic conference right now. I really don't have much to say about Arizona or Oregon State. They seem to be the only teams that are really stagnating. In the last several years it's been USC and then everyone else, but things are going to get really interesting in the next 5 years. Perhaps not unlike UM and the Big Sky conference.
Arizona picked up Texas Tech's offensive coordinator last year, and are now running that wacky passing attack.. look for them to step it up in the stats (who knows about wins and losses).
Wulff took a lot of TE type of athletes. Kids that are about 6'5" 240 or so. They might not be highly rated TEs but I bet he beefs a few of them up and will make very good O-linemen and D-linemen out of them. One thing Wulff knows is offensive linemen. I think that this class will look better a few years from now.
He is not going to win to many head to head recruiting battles with USC and Cal. Just like he was not going to win to many recruiting battles with Montana and Monatana state when he was in the Big Sky. He did the same thing at EWU and had as good of luck as any team after Montana and he did it with far less than most Big Sky teams in terms of facilities, coaches salaries and recruiting budget. I bet he turns WSU in the right direction.

Oregon State finished 3rd this year and didn't they beat USC last year? Stagnating? nah you are just blinded by the big names

give the guy a break he just got the job a couple months ago and really is 2 years behind the 8 ball with recruiting with the big boys of the Pac 10. Cus mack no doubt all the Pac 10 coaches have kids on the radar screen by the time they are Juniors, so that really puts Wulff way behind.
In this world theres 2 types of people my friend those with loaded guns and those who dig......you dig! Clint Eastwood ( the Good the Bad and the Ugly )

Ain't that the truth. I always remember the pounding linemen that EWU had. I still hate to play them.
