Thank you in advance, Frontier. I will be getting home much more often now.
Frontier Airlines returns to Missoula
By PAMELA J. PODGER of the Missoulian
Frontier Airlines will begin flying into Missoula International Airport on May 16, with three daily flights to its Denver hub, airline officials said Thursday.
The announcement of flights into Missoula is part Frontier's spring expansion into eight new regional destinations from its base in Colorado, said airline spokesman Joe Hodas.
Travelers will find fares around $270 from Missoula to Denver, according to the Frontier's Web site. Promotional fares typically are offered for the first month after Frontier begins service to a new market, Hodas said.
Frontier is the seventh carrier now servicing the Missoula airport, said Cris Jensen, Missoula's airport director.
“We're extremely excited,” Jensen said. “With Frontier, we have a low-cost carrier that goes to 60-some-odd cities in their system.”
As Missoula's first low-cost carrier going to a major hub, Frontier's competition may drive down prices on other carriers such as United and Delta, Jensen added.
The daily flights will be on a 74-seat Bombardier Q400, operated by Frontier partner Lynx Aviation, and a 76-seat Embraer 170, operated by partner Republic Airways.
Outbound flights from Missoula will depart at 7 a.m., 11 a.m. and 4:05 p.m., with inbound flights leaving Denver at 8:25 a.m., 1:35 p.m. and 9:35 p.m. (See chart.)
Last March, Frontier received responses from about 62 areas when it solicited requests for service from communities in a 600-mile radius of Denver.
“As we look at the numbers and the patterns on how people travel west, we thought Missoula offered a good opportunity from a leisure and business standpoint,” Hodas said.
Frontier Airlines has offered service to Missoula at least twice before, last pulling out of the Garden City in September of 1995.
Since then, Jensen said a group of investors bought rights to the name and the airline.
Jensen said consumers will determine if Frontier Airlines will have more longevity in Missoula this time around.
“Honestly, it is like any airline. If people don't take advantage of the service, they aren't going to stay,” Jensen said. “We believe they will be a success because they are a low-cost carrier.”

I fly from Denver 4 to 6 times per year, and lucky to get normal rates less than 450.00. Example: right now I have bid for tickets on priceline, they will not even accept a bid up to 250.00 round trip for 2 to 3 weeks out. BTW, everytime I fly home usually there is about 50 flying from Denver to Missoula.
I will use Frontier with rates under 300.00 round trip.
