Sorry. Don't mean to get carried away with the new posts. The D-MAC one was too restrictive.
I am interested in other fan general thoughts on their teams trade deadline moves and playoff predictions etc..
Chris Pronger is the worst kind of dirty player, has talent but is a small, small man.
The Penguins just threw away their future. Hossa is over-rated and they will never hold on to Malkin, Stahl, Crosby etc.
I really liked the move calgary made adding Vandemeer.
Where the Hell did Montreal come from? All of a sudden they are players.

After getting rid of Huet they put all of their eggs into the basket of a young unproven kid for a run at the playoffs.
The Penguins trade it seems they are thinking that this is the year to make a substantial run at the cup.
I think the Blues did a crap job at the deadline. By trading one of their more consistent defenseman for Cam Janssen they are either thinking they can make a run with what little scoring they have in front of Manny or resigning this season as a wash and getting ready for next year. Neither of which most of my fellow Blues fans are happy with. I think the other trade we made to the Rangers was a steal. Backman is the opposite of what a defenseman should be and I'm glad we got his contract off our hands.
As for playoff predictions: I think it will be Dallas over Pittsburgh with my Blues missing the playoffs and finishing below the damn Blackhawks

Watch out for the Stars! Brad Richards was a great pick up, makes them one of the best teams in the West and they now have two scoring lines. His move to right wing will make Modono's line work out the scoring problems.
Yeah, that was an interesting move considering how well they have been doing this year (Habs). I dont watch them all that often because for some insane reason the Wings are in the Western Conference, so I follow those teams a little closer.
I agree that Dallas could end up playing for the cup. The richards move was great, but I am glad the wings didnt do it...he is not an 8.5 million dollar player.
I do not believe Pittsburgh is ready for that kind of grind though. I really believe adding Hossa was a mistake...look at the majority of the moves in the West, everyone is adding grit for playoff hockey.
I am excited to see san jose vs the wings on friday. San jose made a nice move in robbing buffalo of Brian Campbell.
Hopefully there aren't any LEAF fans here, they're such a disgrace. They haven't won in like 40 years and every year all their fans keep on guaranteeing that this'll be the year... NOT.
I agree about the Leafs. Such a proud history, and run by a bunch of bunglers. Plus it didnt help that Sundin screwed them by not waiving the no-trade clause. Blake in LA did the same thing. Short sighted and selfish, both players could have allowed a trade, gone to cup contenders and helped their respective teams gain draft picks in what everyone is saying is going to very a very good draft.
Hossa's debut didn't go down as good. He got injured in the second period and looks to miss about a week and to add insult to the injury Boston pummeled them 5-1.
You also have to take into account who the Stars were playing. The Blackhawks aren't exactly in the top 10 in even the West.

True but they have had the Stars number this year beating them twice?
Chicago also has owned Detroit this year too. They have some great young talent.
I wonder how many Penguins fans are already having buyers remorse over giving up espisito, armstrong and christensen. Pittsburg didnt even end up with the best dude name marian in the NHL (gaborik from the wild is better IMO)
Wings play San Jose tonight and the wings new guy, Stuart, will be paired with Kronwall. Those two should be fun to watch, hopefully stuart blows someone up tonight. Its a shame I have a bachelor party to attend this evening because there is a lot of good hockey on. Anaheim plays Calgary at 10pm---you know that will be a physical game.
Red wings seemed like they are righting the ship tonight. Dominated the Sabres who needed the game to gain on philly for the 8 spot. Maltby scored his first goal in 37 games---how the hell he or draper has not been replaced full time by Hartigan is beyond me--Babcock does not seem like the sentimental type.
New guy stuart looked good on friday--took quite a run at roenick.
Announced today that McCarty will be called up sunday.
Pronger should have got the same suspension Simon did for this.
No kidding!! I never really liked Pronger when he was on the Blues because of his dirty play. I think if the NHL is stiffening penalties like it says he should have gotten a bigger suspension for it. They keep saying we are going to get rid of the dirty play but they only suspend the regular players and not its "Superstars." There should be no difference on whether he is a top line player or a 4th line guy.

My real problem with Pronger is he does this sort of stuff because he likes to. It is who he is. Simon has always done hard nosed, at times dirty stuff because he HAS to, he has no choice. He is in the league, and made it to the league by his enforcer type play...he has no extraordinary talent. Pronger is a huge talent and could be just as good without being a lowlife cheap-shot artist.
By the way I fully admit I would love to have him on the Wings. Also, I like the Blues as well, they always play the wings hard. Also what American hockey player doesn't like Tkachuk..he is awesome. One last Blues note... I wish we had Drake when you had him rather than now, although he does add a needed physical prescence to the team.
These end of the season games make me nervous. The wings are closing playing teams with nothing to lose. Beat the Blues last night but play them again Friday. McCarty is scheduled to play Friday against the blues...which is good, I'd play him 24 minutes, let the more expendable guys take shots from King, Walker, Meir etc. In fact w/ Drake back Fri (for his 1,000 game) I'd play a line of Downey, Drake and McCarty as much as possible.
Don't be sad the suck-ass (except boyes) Blues didn't make the playoffs again. The midwest will represent by sending the wings to the finals.
Any predictions....if colorado beats the wild and san jose can get by UBER physical ignila and co, the wings are a lock for the finals. the will crush a beaten down colorado team and and san jose is over-rated as usual, and anahiem can't score or PK to save their lives.
I'm not sad the Blues didn't make the playoffs. I'm more sad we didn't get the number one pick this year (stupid two game winning streak at the end of the year). And besides with all of the prospects playing very well this year in the college ranks the future is looking very bright for the Blues.
As for my predictions:
Round 1:
Wings in 4
Stars in 6
Wild in 7
Sharks in 6
Canadiens in 4
Penguins in 5
Capitals will stun the Flyers in 6
Rangers in 6
Round 2:
Stars in 7 vs. Wings
Sharks in 6 vs. Wild
Canadiens in 6 vs. Rangers
Penguins in 6 vs. Caps
Semis:
Sharks in 7 vs. Stars
Penguins in 5 vs. Canadiens
Stanley Cup Finals:
Penguins in 6 over Sharks
Note: Most of the Eastern Conference is a guess since I didn't really watch any of their games.

No, I think you're right, the blues will be tough next year.
I disagree with your faith in Dallas, no Zubov and no production from Richards, Modano not who he was, Turcotte has never been a clutch playoff goalie and the wings own him. That leaves ribiero carrying the load...unlikely. I do think they have a shot at besting the ducks if Ott can continue to provoke the ducks into dumb penalties and their PP can be anywhere near as effective as it was in game one.
I am sort of in the same boat as you in terms of ignorance of teams in the East, I know the Habs are a favorite but I have not watched alot of them and can not pronounce or spell the names of their few players I do know of...ie ptlotenec, kostitsyn brothers...I guess they are good, but who the hell is on boston anymore to stop them...the B's should not even be in the playoffs.
Perhaps they should just do the 1-16 seeding for playoffs regardless of conference.
I have a feeling that Turco is going to come out of his playoff slump and lead the Stars farther than anyone believes even with their week offense. As long as he can keep them in the games they'll have a chance. But I'm probably just talking nonsense. It seems to happen a lot.
