It's about time they replaced the speakers that blast and sound like S!@#. I was listening to the lady griz halftime show tonight and it sounds like they are investing half a mill in new audio around the stadium which will be ready in time to kick off the new season. I can't wait to hear kid rock again....sooon!

I used to run the PA systems for basketball and football during high school games, dances, etc., and I must say that I've always been impressed with the Wa/Griz sound system, although at times music would distort a bit at high volume.
Most of those sound systems consist of an amp about the size of a desktop computer, wired to what really amounts to bullhorns - something like the Cats use.
When you talk a system in the range of $500,000, you're talking one incredibly bodacious sound system, the likes of which most in Montana have never seen or heard!
It's gonna' be a gas of a stadium to walk into, and when they flip the switch on that baby, the hits will just keep on commin'!

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRG
Get this UM just approved this week a $500,000 change order to Quality Construction the local contractor working on the stadium addition to improve their sound system. They just tacked it on to the existing contract!! They did not have to go before the Board of regent the just added to it.
I am pretty sure it was included in the original plans, and within the original contract. They were waiting to see if the construction would over-run before they went ahead with the sound system, to make sure they had enough money to pay for it.
Finally, a true test to our yelling prowless... maybe this sound system has a chance against 25,000 crazy Montana Griz fans! A true test to our yelling abilities; AAARRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAGGGHHHHHHH!!!
In all seriousness, this will be a great investment for the stadium. Enhances the experience for everyone! Less deafness for those underneath the speakers in the SEZ, and blesses the NEZ with the announcer that they used to hear 50% of the time. Good call. No more of my father calling asking me to repeat the score of the bobcat game they just announced over the PA. Thanks UM!

oh boy, the excitement of having another 'better' distraction taking away from the game!
and no, i'm certainly not against having a pa system that can be used to relay info. its just that UM seems hell-bent on turning wa-griz into a haven for those more interested in monte and loud music than in football.

I started by participating in the X and O analysis that was the standard here, but then realized that at this level, more important than game strategy are the decisions that determine which coaches will determine that strategy.

You've got a point. There are a few very active Griz fans who quit going to the games because the show has become as big as the game. It's hard not to be taken in by it all.

well we could always go with the sound optional approach. come gameday, as you enter the gates you can purchase a disposable wireless earpiece for $19.99, of course the earpiece is good for only that game. another money monkey for the powers that be.
But Captain Jack will get you high tonight
And take you to your special island
Captain Jack will get you by tonight
Just a little push 'n' you'll be smilin'
Yeah, Captain Jack will get you by tonight
Yeah, Captain Jack will get you by tonight
Has anyone heard about the new speakers that were supposedly going in? I didn't see anything in the pictures I've seen online of the new addition that would indicate, and walking around the site I haven't seen anything obvious that would be speakers or placement of. Just wondering...
