Just thought some of you might like to remember what happened last year!
Twas a month before Christmas and all through the land
All the Cats and Griz were awaiting the big game at hand.
The spectators were bundled up, both the young and the old
In hopes of insulating themselves from the bitter cold.
The cocky Grizzlies were tucked all snug in their dens
While visions of Big Sky Championships danced in their heads.
With the Cats looking confident and the Griz looking lame
Everyone settled in for this brawl of a game.
When out on the field there arose such a clatter
Monte the flea bag sprang from his Harley to see what was the matter.
When what to the Grizzlies' amazement soon would be seen
But a coach named Kramer and the rest of his team.
With a Freshman Q.B. who was finding his way
They knew in a moment it must be Lulay.
More rapid than eagles his teammates they came
And he whistled and shouted and called them by name:
Now Johnson, now Adams, now Montoya and Wulf!
On Ione, on Cordiero, on Cooper and Cook!
To the 40, to the 30, to the 20 and more
To the 10, to the end zone, how we will score!
So down the field the Bobcats they flew
With a play book full of runs, and some timely passes too.
As the spectators peered through the freezing snow and rain
They saw the clawing and scratching of the Bobcat ground game.
Then the Cat's spread the field and Lulay looked around
And down the field Junior Adams came with a bound.
He was dressed all in white with touches of Navy and Gold
And his clothes were all tarnished with ice and with snow.
Junior was fleet of foot and the Griz defense was wary
And he looked like a comet as he burned the secondary.
Lulay saw this and his eyes got wide -
Of course, he hit his receiver in stride.
Adams hauled in the pass and raced in for the score
After that touchdown, the Bobcats would need no more.
The Cat defense was stellar, the offense was tough
For Johnny Edwards, the day was indeed quite rough.
He complained about his shoulder, he complained about the weather,
But he could do nothing, the Cats were just better.
And Ryan Johnson, that Cat churned up the yards
Making sure a Grizzly victory was not in the cards.
When the dust had settled, on the Griz Vision screen would appear
A final score of 10 - 7, with the mighty Griz in the rear.
Coach Kramer liked what he saw, the Grizzlies did not,
Oh well, now they can go back to smoking their pot.
The Bobcat coach had a big smile, bald head and round belly
Coach Glenn and his boys were nothing but jelly.
Poor "Johnny Montana" oh how he cried,
After the game, he ran home to hide.
But Lulay was smiling as well he should be
Maybe now his team would get the respect they deserve (maybe even get to play on TV.)
We heard him exclaim as he roared out of sight
"Big Sky Champs to the Cats - to the Grizzlies, good night!"
10-7 is not what I would call a beating, especially against a team that was without 6 of its starters. But lets take a look back to the previous 16 years and find out what a beating really is: Griz beat the kittens 1985 41-18, 1986 59-28, 1987 55-7, 1988 17-3, 1989 17-2, 1990 35-18, 1991 16-9 ( Oh look a close one), 1992 29-17, 1993 42-30, 1994 55-20, 1995 42-33 ( Another kinda close one), 1996 35-14, 1997 27-25 (3 close ones in 13 years WOW), 1998 28-21 (4), 1999 49-3, 2000 28-3, 2001 38-27, 2002 The kittens finally win one and you consider it a beating. In 16 year of dominance the Griz beat the kittens by double figures 12 times and 4 others by single digits, and you beat us by 3 one time and it's a BEATING, that is soooo laughable. over the past 18 years the Griz have BEATEN the kittens by an average score of 18 points per game.

It was wise of you to archive it that way...so that years from now when your grandkids are old enough to ask, "Grandpa Bozone, why do the Cats even try to play the Griz?"
You can then answer, "Sit right down there little Kramer, and I will tell you a story. We actually beat those Grizzlies once. It happened back in ought-two, it did. It was a snowy day in Missoula..."
And then you can launch into your fuzzy memories poem. Of course, they'll never believe you, but isn't that always the way with Ol' Grandpa's stories.
"GD it, PETAns piss me off! We're never gonna have a stupid Eagle or a faggy Bobcat as a mascot!"

That is a hilarious fzckin post, Sportin'!
And it was a good pome too, I can respect that. I can also laugh that even die-hard Cat fans can't spell 'Ione'! (see spelling in the "on Montoya, on Cooper, on pozzi, ralph mouth and the fonz" part)
Hell yeah, excellent poem-can't wait to see your version for next year. C'mon, the challenge is upon you, Bozone...win or lose, write another one next year.
People use duct tape to fix everything. God used nails.
Great poem, yes, but unfortunately I can't take credit for writing it. It has been circulated throughout the year by Cat fans... I have no idea who wrote it, but it still gives me a good chuckle!
