Since this word is already being thrown around loosely and surprisingly from the right side of the isle, what is the definition of racist? How does it accurately apply to Barak Obama or Rev. Wright?

If you sit and listend and support someone for 20 years...you are probably a racist.

What Obama's Church Preaches
Well, well, well, ... In case you missed this little gem, a little digging into Barack Hussein Obama's church, Trinity United Church of Christ . This may be more damning to Obama than his Muslim history:
... afrocentric in the extreme would be a gross understatement. It's not simply afrocentric, it's African-centric. In fact, one could argue that this organization worships things African to a far greater degree than they do Christ, and gives the impression of being a separatist "church" in the same vein as do certain supremacist "white brethren" churches – or even Louis Farrakhan's Nation of Islam.
Shocking? An overstatement? An overreaction?
One can see for oneself on the Trinity United Church website, which is replete with confirmation of what I present here. What follows is an excerpt from their Mission Statement:
"We are a congregation which is Unashamedly Black and Unapologetically Christian... Our roots in the Black religious experience and tradition are deep, lasting and permanent. We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization. God has superintended our pilgrimage through the days of slavery, the days of segregation, and the long night of racism. It is God who gives us the strength and courage to continuously address injustice as a people, and as a congregation. We constantly affirm our trust in God through cultural expression of a Black worship service and ministries which address the Black Community.
"Trinity United Church of Christ adopted the Black Value System written by the Manford Byrd Recognition Committee chaired by Vallmer Jordan in 1981. We believe in the following 12 precepts and covenantal statements. These Black Ethics must be taught and exemplified in homes, churches, nurseries and schools, wherever Blacks are gathered. They must reflect on the following concepts:
1. Commitment to God
2. Commitment to the Black Community
3. Commitment to the Black Family
4. Dedication to the Pursuit of Education
5. Dedication to the Pursuit of Excellence
6. Adherence to the Black Work Ethic
7. Commitment to Self-Discipline and Self-Respect
8. Disavowal of the Pursuit of "Middleclassness"
9. Pledge to make the fruits of all developing and acquired skills available to the Black Community
10. Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting Black Institutions
11. Pledge allegiance to all Black leadership who espouse and embrace the Black Value System
12. Personal commitment to embracement of the Black Value System."
Sound familiar? Of course it is, since it's identical to the 12-point list ... – the one from the theoretical white supremacist candidate's church; the only difference is the substitution of the word "Black" for "White."
I'd say that is racist, if you reverse every word that says Black...witht he word white...I'd call that pretty racist.
Wouldn't you?

You mean something like this:
Quote:
Indeed, it is shocking to consider the uniformity of opinion among blacks in this country. Opinion polls consistently show that only about 5% of blacks have sensible political opinions, i.e. support the free market, individual liberty, and the end of welfare and affirmative action.... Given the inefficiencies of what D.C. laughingly calls the "criminal justice system," I think we can safely assume that 95% of the black males in that city are semi-criminal or entirely criminal.

If you substituted "Catholic" for "black," then what does that make you? Or if you substituted "Jewish" for "black," then what does that make you? Or if you substituted "Montanan" for "black," what does that make you? Or if you substituted "American" for "black," what does that make you?
You guessed it, each one has a completely different meaning, doesn't it? And some of them you probably wouldn't mind at all, would you?
Likewise, comparing "black" and "white" in this example is completely pointless, as there is a completely different context between the two different scenarios, as I explained in the other thread.

Racist…look no further than B.O’s mentor and the philosophy of his church.
“But the Trinity Church of Christ, to which Obama belongs, subscribes to Black Liberation Theology, which we shall see does not represent those things, and therefore gives voice to Reverend Wright's and others hateful dialog.
Wright admits that he preaches his brand of that theology which is based, in part, on the works of one James Hal Cone, the recognized pioneer in the black brand of this theology.
Wright referred to Cone and his "pioneering" efforts in his contentious interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News in 2007.
Cone himself is much written and describes this theology in his book ”A Black Theology for Liberation,” which is one of many books he has written. One notable quote in that book describing Cone's Black Liberation Theology is as follows:
"Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community ... Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love."
Thanks for playing BAC...but nope, as usual.. not good enough- Pure Mushroom feed and spin!!

Maybe they will swallow it over on the catnation board...give it a try over there
You can disregard my post, but you know the points I made were spot-on.
Again, place hands over ears and scream so you can avoid knowledge and thus hold on to your desired conclusions. Don't think. Whatever you do, just don't think!
And just one more bit of context that you will ignore, but actually speaks to the heart of the matter -- if black people were as successful and wealthy as a group as white people in this country, and if black people had as much power in our government and economy, and then a guy was saying what he is saying, I would totally agree that his motivation was one of racism.
However, in our reality, where black people, due to their historical oppression by our country, are NOT even close to parity with white people in terms of the power and wealth in this nation, it makes perfect sense for a person to say these things in an effort to empower their own people to raise them up to a level closer to that of other races. So it makes perfect sense for their intent to have nothing to do with racism, but rather one of seeking economic and political equality.

I've seen and read it all on the guy...that was a quote from 20 years ago, taken out of contect...and he has had to pay for that, and if you ask him about it...and I did, he will give you an honest answer about anything he has ever said.
Rev. wright and obama have been spitting venom worse than this for 20 years...and continue to run away from the mess even today.

I see that a little hypocrisy has been exposed, eh? So much for the hardline against racism. If Ron Paul says he didn't mean it, it's all good. But if a black guy knows a guy who allegedly said that he was going to buy some cookies at a black-owned bakery, Katy bar the door! We've got ourselves a Hitler analogy!!!!!

Ron Paul has indeed had some things in his past that he said or probably allowed to go on that his name was tied too....he has even said some things that he probably regrets.
he will never be elected because of it all..especially some old right wing/libertarian type fringe groups rhetoric.
He knows that now, but he is honest enough to say "I said it...here what, why, and when.."
How bout your boy?...NADA
Obama continues today to hide and deny it and the press continues to play the part of aiding in it all.
that's the difference you dingleberry..and I am totally against any sort of predjudiced actions by any group. However the liberal democratic slant has just put me over the top.

So let's review. Ron Paul had explicitly racist things written in his name (or maybe even by him), yet you don't think he is a racist.
Obama has never said or even suggested anything that even approaches racism. Yet you suspect he is.
And Wright has allegedly worn a shirt once with what is obviously a joke written on it ... but you're CERTAIN he's a racist.
So ... obviously you have a lot of subjectivity at play here ... what criteria are you using to decide who is and who isn't, as clearly you aren't basing it on their actions or words.
Dingleberry ... funny. Spend a little more time trying to make a compelling and consistent argument and less time on coming up with clever names to call other posters, okay?
