He talks a good game, has a great smile, is very book smart and like his party, doesn't want to roll up his sleeves and fight. In fact that's part of his platform. Political fights are old school, something the country should move beyond. He's promising not to roll around in the mud and that's what his supporters echo. Listen to all the hand wringing over the consequences of a drawn out primary. Democrats are like kids who can't stand to hear mommy and daddy yelling at each other. They hate a fight and won't elect a fighter. Think about it. --
Jimmy Carter, Walter Mondale, Michael Dukakis, John Kerry, Clinton (pre-1994)--these guys were not comfortable being attacked, didn't know how to respond and with the exception of bubba got their asses handed to them. Obama can't even cope with a flag pin assault from a middle-aged housewife from Latrobe, Pennsylvania--it's a totally bullshit question, by the way, but the guy just couldn't cut it.
Come August, the Republicans are going to once again slap around a Democrat softee like second grade bullies and the softee is just going to assume that deer in the headlights gaze and take it as if he never saw it coming.

Good analysis on the Dems, but I think Obama has the ability to be assertive a little bit more than you are giving him credit for. And remember that Bill Clinton had a bit of a teflon reputation which might be the case with Obama as well. You could almost liken the Rev. Wright deal to "I didn't inhale". The right wing blows hard about it , but in the end most people don't care that much, and it becomes a glancing blow.

Bill Clinton had more going for himself than a teflon reputation. The guy pretty much lost his Congress in 1994 and spent the next six years triangulating between his own party's unrealistic demands and the policies of a Republican Congress he really couldn't manage, much like Busch can't manage the Congress he's had since the 2006 election.
Clinton managed to take at least partial credit for his opposition's policies. That's hard to do.

I don't know if we'll be able to tell how Obama will handle a tough opposition, especially when it challenges his manhood. I keep saying this, but troop withdrawls from Iraq are scheduled to end in July, right as the general election starts to take shape. That's not a mistake. The R's see McCain's military experience as a big plus and they'll showcase it against Obama's soft persona. Just wait. [/i]

Again, great analysis.

John McCain might appear more manly, but can he dunk?

We're going to have a Dem Congress. I remember posters saying how important it was to have a Dem congress with a Bush presidency...so is it still important to you to have it split? If so... you should be supporting J.M.

I think that was BAC's point, and it's probably why he has suggested that he will vote McCain.

This election may boil down to that desire of independent voters to keep both parties in play versus how dissappointed they are at the Republicans for the last 8 years.

Is that why Congress under Dems Pelosi and Reid have 17% approval ratings? You simply cannot stay on topic because your agenda is purely to take shots at Reps? Too bad you can't look at your own party in the same manner. :lame:

The dems deserve that rating because they're almost as bad. But that doesn't mean that the recent history of the Republican party is irrelevant.

It would be a badge of honor for me to take all of your egriz bucks and allow me to provide you with the text to your signature here in egriz for the remainder of the year.

"I'm casting my vote for Down with the Foe for President of the United States..."

Something to the tone of that

and you have to write my screen name in as your candidate of choice for the November election"

If you and barack win- you get all my egriz bucks...

That's a fair bet seeing how far down she supposedly is - That's how confident I am in that Barack is done...and the CLinton machine (who I have no love loss for you all know that) will win the party nomination.

Yes...there will be a Democratic political party meltdown before this is all said and done.

Oh, you want reindeer games. I thought you were willing to actually back up your predictions with cash.

I'd be happy to lay (real) cash on the line, but I'm not really interested in monopoly money or other cutesies.

I mistook your post for an excellent investment opportunity. Had I realized it was just a shits and giggles sort of boast, I wouldn't have responded.

Lanny Davis: McGovernesque Obama On Track to Lose 49 States
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Lanny was back on the job on today's Morning Joe. After repeating his claim from the HuffPo column that Obama is in a dead heat with McCain in super-blue in Massachusetts while Hillary's up by 15%, Davis took his anti-Obama argument a giant step further. Davis claimed that Barack could lose in a blow-out of epic, McGovernesque, proportions.

I would agree with Lanny…when the Dems nominate an unrepentant liberal like George McGovern, Michael Dukakis or John F. Kerry they lose. Thanks Move-on.org

This Slate story makes sense.

Drop Out, Obama
By Chris Wilson

http://www.slate.com/blogs/blogs/trailh ... obama.aspx
-----------
My favorite line of the slate article….

McCain will be eminently more beatable in 2012. Demographics will continue to shift in Obama’s favor as his 14- to 17-year-old supporters come of voting age.

This action may mess with my prediction...man the Dem's are as nervous as a Whore in Church on Sunday, they must feel this thing is really starting to slip away, and fear a complete Democratic party meltdown if Hillary ends up winning this thing

I've said it since the crying episode in NH...she is going to take this thing, IF the Dems rules and system are allowed to play out.

I can mail a check (or cash) to an agreed-upon poster to hold if you are worried about collecting. You could do the same.

If you don't possess the, ummm, "desire" to engage in a real bet, and only intended your post to be internet smack, that's cool. Just say so. I don't care either way.

Depends on who's nightmare you're talking about. He did institute the 50 states strategy and engineered the 2006 Democratic comeback. He's one 1-0.
