I agree that McCain is a Republican. However, the Republican party has largely abandoned conservatism. Bush has set the standard with "borrow and spend" along with undermining the Constitution. Also, "aggressive" foreign policies are not a traditional conservative trademark. Additionally, McCain is now advocating deficit spending as a way to deal with the recession. None of this has much to do with conservatism, but it does represent the new Republican Party.

McCain is the real Republican. You'll get no argument that Bush has lost his way on the fiscal side. McCain can help the Republicans remind us of who we really are.

DWTF, you made a pretty bold prediction (any wagers?) about Hillary's chances at winning the nomination. BAC responded with a fun and harmless challenge to that assertion. I don't think he was serious at the time about a real wager......just harmlessly engaging the topic. Then the shit hit the fan and it got real personal real fast. At one point you invited the possibility of a physical challenge (word of advice.....don't do that on a message board while at the same time calling someone gay). He probably didn't appreciate the ridiculousness of all of that and called your bluff. Good for him.
The only reason I even speak to this little psychodrama is that I enjoy this board and your crap in this thread really f*cks things up. You'll rarely see GrizWiz, kalm, BAC, and myself ever sitting on the same side of the fence on an issue. But every once in a while, they speak to something that makes me think differently about a particular topic and I appreciate the fact that I can maybe learn something. Well, sht. I don't usually do this, but I guess I'll cast my ballot into the "don't leave, DWTF" box, too.
Foe and I have had some pretty nasty exchanges on here, too (especially recently), but for whatever it's worth -- at least on my end, there aren't any bad feelings.
We all go a little bit off the deep end on here from time to time, in our own ways. I know I've certainly gotten frustrated with certain posters on here before, and I've been known to rip into people (some of whom deserved, and many of whom probably didn't). When I read it the next day, I usually realize that I was being a jerk, and I apologize...and honestly, I think that's about all anyone can expect of any of us.
The bottom line is, we're all just a bunch of Big Sky Conference football fans who like to talk about politics when we're not talking about football. We're all a$$holes sometimes, and I can be an a$$hole with the best of 'em, but I bet if I sat down and had a beer with any of the people I argue with on here, we'd probably find that we agree on about 75% of the issues out there -- we just spend all our time on here arguing about the other 25% because, well...it's more fun.
