great info mslacat.

rivals has him as vassy banny, reporting that his top choice was hawaii but he was also recruited by santa barbara and riverside.

i think we've really added the dimension of athleticism that was missing from last year's team.

MslaCat,

I am pretty sure his name is Vassy Banny.

The athletic Banny has a powerful dribble-and-drive game, often resulting in punishment for the rim, and is dangerous with mid-range shots, too. He averages 9.9 points on 56.3-percent shooting, and the versatile player also hauls in 5.4 rebounds with 2.5 assists and 1.8 steals an outing. Like most of the Bruins, he is an aggressive and physical defender.

on further review, it looks like vanny has got some pipes, sets mean picks, and mostly played forward. since i don't see a 6'3" anybody playing the three at the major college level, i hope he can adjust to life as a two.

6-3 Kral Ferch, 6-3 Nick Dissly, Harry was also a 6-4 power forward.

Vassy Banny: (SO) 6-foot-3 (215) from The Ivory Coast

"Banny is a freak athlete that really play above the rim," said Beck.

Vassy gets a lot of his points around the basket and is currently shooting 67% from the floor. Hawaii-offered, UC-Riverside and UC-Santa Barbara are following him this spring. Banny is currently 10.2 ppg and 4.9 rebounds on the season.

I think he will be a 3 with his quicks, hops and strength. #twocents

You're misinformed again, it's heading to $5 a gallon on the low side.

It sounded like the Griz were really hot on Kenny Daniels....then they sign Banny?? what gives here?? Is Banny that much better than Daniels?? Looks like he doesn't shoot it nearly as well as KD..... or was our staff just impatient with Daniels because he is holding out for a couple more visits....any info on this would be much appreciated as well as any new info on our current recruits as well as our next signing......SB16,MslaCat, GrizBacker......or anyone else with inside knowledge about these recruits......Also....how does our class stack up so far with the rest of the Big Sky???

hard to imagine any big sky school doing better than we did with the three washington high school kids--moikobu, stockton and ward. toss in johnson and banny, and it appears to be a stellar class.

still, most of these recruits fall in the two-star category, and weber, northern arizona, montana state and portland state all signed any number of two-star recruits, including some tall post players. weber got a talented guard out of oakland, always a fertile recruiting area, while portland state signed a lightening-quick guard out of washington, glen dean, that wanted to come to montana but might not have had the grades. idaho state, as always, is a world-beater, on paper, and in the papers. in sum, i'd have to say, while we had a stellar class, we'll just have to see how they all pan (play?) out.

Bird in the hand. Daniels was not ready to commit, he was still going on trips, and a lot of schools were very much in the works. Banny is/was a player who had other D-1 offers. He committed , the Griz coaches put him off for a day, it became clear Daniels was in no position to commit yet, the coaches most likely did not want to risk waiting around and losing both.

Listen Banny may nor have the stats of Daniels but I know he is going to be a fan favorite. He is going to bring a level of athleticism and hustle that you have not seen in a while. He can score, and play above the rim, but he will also dive for loose balls, and will do what ever the coaches ask of him. The coaches yes would have liked to have signed Daniels but there was no clear indication who was the leader for his service, if they have waited they most like would have had to settle for someone less than either.

One other thing no one mentioned (i think) was that Banny is a GREAT student, with a work ethic on and off the court. Nothing sucks more for a coach than worrying whether or not a player is going to have eligibility issues.

Sounds good to me guys.....thanks for the info!!! It's probably a safe bet to say we'll have the most athletic wings in the BSC..(McGillis, Banny, Digs)..... not to bad of a group there when that was our major glaring weakness last year.....great job Tinks!!!! I'll be anxiously awaiting to hear who will fill that last Schollie.....PG or athletic big would be great.

IF they sign another player look for it to be a JC point.

Mslacat, reading between the lines here and on BCN, it seems as though you're pleased with both UM's and MSU's signings. Would you agree with that, and do you think either/both could have done better, or did they achieve about as much as they could?
