he ran an 11.02 at state last year and is now running a 10.4 and the state record is 10.7? wow! that's quite an improvement on his own time and the state record if it's legit.

He certainly is fast. His 10.4 was hand-timed which converts to a 10.64 auto-timed, which is still very fast and tenth faster than the state record. I believe that the Top 10 was auto-timed and he ran a 10.82, will be interesting to see how he does in Districts, Divisionals, and State which will all be auto-timed.
Here's a link to Tyzer easily winning the Top 10 100 meters in 10.82. The video is of both the girls' and boys' races. The boys' race starts about half way through the video.
It looks like he has good form throughout the race; as his coach says, not Tuff Harris top-end speed, but better speed overall because he is so smooth and consistent throughout a race. In other words, get him into open field on a return and no one is going to run him down!
No, there may very well be someone faster. But, as I said, I will ALWAYS hope that there isn't. I thought it sounded like you were assuming that there always would be someone faster....
Okay, no one from Montana will be able to run him down (since he recently ran the fastest 100 meters in Montana history--after conversion to a FAT 10.64).
...and, although his 10.64 obviously isn't the fastest 100 in the country even in high school this year, the list of folks in FCS who will be faster is very short.
By comparison, we all remember Jefferson Heidelberger having some great wheels, but I'm pretty sure he never broke 10.8 in the 100 meters in high school.
Another nice thing about Tyzer is that he was a football player first with great speed who didn't know if his speed would translate to the track--so we already know that his speed works on the football field, which isn't always true of track athletes who try to become football players.

Watch out for a kid from CMR ( Chris Wilson) i would put him up against The Colstrip kid in the 100 and he would compete, if not beat him and he is only a Junior. Chris would beat all the sprinter kids in Bench, Squat and dead lift, hands down (no compitition). He is one of the strongest kids at CMR if not the strongest.
In this world theres 2 types of people my friend those with loaded guns and those who dig......you dig! Clint Eastwood ( the Good the Bad and the Ugly )
Tyzer ran 10.49 yesterday at Districts to easily win the 100. With conversion to FAT, that time would equal the state all-time record, the second time this season he has equaled or bettered the record.
Now he just has to do it at Divisionals and then State to get the official record (Hah...'just'!?! Easy for me to say....)

...and I'd have to guess, based on his times earlier this year, that this race was run into a headwind. (Since he's run a legitimate, non-wind-aided 10.40 [hand-timed] a couple of weeks ago in Sidney [based on the postings of several people who were there]).
He's also run 10.82 and 10.58 (wind-aided) this spring.

Just a guess, though.
Maybe someone who was there will report on it.
I would guess that he didn't push too hard, being districts and all, just enough to win.

From today's Seattle Times online sports.....Washington High School track bests so far this season. FAT 10.67, hand timed, 10.7. Cady's 10.4 (10.64 when translated to FAT) is impressive.
