with 80% of this years recruiting class coming from Washington, who will the Griz recruit next year?

Well here are some ideas:

Are you aware who Brandon Durham is? If your answer is no, then I'm here to let you in on one of the Northwest best kept secrets. Durham a 6'7" 220 pound soon to be senior has been flying under the radar in Washington State for the past 2 years. With stars such as Abdul Gaddy, Peyton Siva, and Avery Bradley it can be a daunting task to overcome the heavy publicity that they attract, and deservedly so. Brandon has
however emerged from the Class of 2009 as arguably one of the best post players in the State.

Brandon Durham is a fierce rebounder and low post scoring threat, in a style similar to Jon Brockman.
Utilizing his size along with great footwork Durham has become a virtual double/double every time he steps onto the court. The Central Kitsap big man made his way through the ranks, by focusing on elevating his game in the off season with his AAU Select team Westside Hoops. Under the watchful eye of Westside coach Jeremy Landis, Durham has learned to take on roles he might not have been so comfortable with in the past. He is now team captain on both his high school team as well as his select team.

We here at Husky Digest were able to sit down with Brandon for an exclusive interview to see what his thoughts were on the past high school season, and how he plans on improving his game for the future.

What are your feelings on how Central Kitsap finished the year?

B.Durham: We started the year off on a tear, with beating the Bellarmine Prep Duo of Abdul Gaddy, and Avery Bradley being one of the highlights of the year. With some injuries to key players on the team, we had to take a couple of steps back. Coming into next year with a healthy team of returning starters, "the expectations are really high."

How would you explain your maturation process in the past few years?

B.Durham: Early on in my basketball career I liked playing, but overtime I developed love for the game which in turn really put my focus on being the best basketball player I could be.

What would you say is the highlight of the spring for you and your select team?

B.Durham: When in Las Vegas, we had the opportunity to play the So Cal All-Stars Next team. We came out with a victory, where everyone on the team played a valuable part. That right there was a big win for our club.

So Brandon what would you say are the schools that have really demanded your interest, schools that you have on your radar that might possibly want your services?

B.Durham: I really like the idea of potentially being a UW Husky, but I also have and have been shown interest in Washington State, University of Montana, and Portland State. Education is an important factor as well in my decision. The school that can offer a good education with the opportunity to play high level basketball will be tops on my list.

Durham will be participating in the Washington State Premier league all this month at Highline Community College every weekend. If you have the opportunity to attend, please do. You never know Mr. Durham
could be on the Husky roster in just two years pulling down double/double after double/double.

Others I know they are recruiting

Steven Bjornstad 6-10, Vancouver (WA) Columbia River
Brandon Durham 6-7, Silverdale (WA) Central Kitsap
Cody Thurmond 6-1, Silverdale (WA) Central Kitsap
Taylor Hoffer 6-8, Paulsbo (WA) North Kitsap
David Wink 6-10 North Bend (WA) Mount Si

From other states:

Kameron Wilhite 6-1, Pueblo (CO) Pueblo South
Chris Halvorsen 6-7, Mendota Heights (MN) Sibley
Max Jacobsen 6-6 Lake Oswego (OR) Lake Oswego

I vote for Kameron Wilhite just because he is from Pueblo. Both of my parents were from there. It would be nice to root for someone from my parents hometown.
