I am going to catch a few more Wazzu and Idaho games, and if I want to see a Big Sky game, down the road to EWU.

When you look at driving 230 miles one way, staying overnight (hotels stick it to you being Griz weekend) and food, you are talking about a spendy weekend for one game. With two kids, making 7 home game with the cash outlay that is needed will keep me home more.

I saw many Griz fans on the freeways from LaLaLand to San Luis Obispo last time....Although, from the tenor of these boards, I don't know why the Griz bother to play since it is the concensus here, at least, the they don't have a chance against Cal Poly....Good thing Slotown is a nice place to spend the week end...

druhag wrote:LONG ANSWER: 10$ a gallon gasoline could be crippiling to our economy, traveling long distances for griz games would have ended long before it reaches 10$ a gallon. The price of food and the price of oil are directly linked. The production of food requires petroleum products at every step of the way. The tilling of the soil and planting of crops (fuel for the machines), fertilizer is made from petroleum, insectisides are made from petroleum, harvesting requires fuel, then transport. The reason cereal is more expensive now then it was a year ago is because of the increase in price of oil. Airlines are already having trouble paying thier fuel bills. If the price of oil continues to climb, air travel out of missoula might become scarce at best. Airlines are already reducing flights in missoula. The cost of shipping is increasing which will inevitable result in higher prices for goods at best buy and costco, or any store that doesn't sell local prodcucts. The list of conections to your cost of living and the price of oil are endless. As the price of oil increases, your expendable income will decrease and it doesn't just come from pumping gas. People need to understand the externalities of the high price of oil, then they will understand the possible consequeces of our inaction. If we as a counrty do not start to make shifts in our life style, then we are in deep troubel. I live in Kalispell, and right now it cost 50$ for me to drive to Missoula and back. That is not acceptable to me. I have two choices, one is to get a new car that gets better gas mileage, the other is to reduce my trips. Becasue my car is paid off, I am going with option 2 because it doesnt make sense for me to increase my expenses paying off a car loan, to reduce the amount of money I spend on fuel. As a result, I might come down for a regular season game, and if there is a home playoff game I will be in town for turkeyday anyways so I will make that game. I was thinking about adding a seat onto my parents season tickets and going to all the games but that got scrapped a few months ago because of 1 reason, the price of gas.
SHORT ANSWER: YES, the price of gas as it is right now will reduce the number of griz games I am planing to attend.
