I was looking at the possibility of going to the game and I've done some investigation on travel.
The problem with Allegiant is the small number of flights. Missoula-to-Vegas flights are 10:45 AM Thurs and Sun. Vegas-to-Missoula flights are 6:55 AM, Sun and Thurs. Flights from Santa Maria to Vegas get in at 9:20 PM on Sun. Therefore, you have to stay in Vegas till very early on Thursday. Total costs: $336 for air travel, plus luggage, plus a week of hotels, mostly in Vegas.
Msla to LV: $198 RT
LV to Santa Maria: $138 RT
You can't fly to Phoenix as an alternate because there are no flights to California or Las Vegas on Allegiant. Flights to Phoenix are Mon and Fri, and the Fri flight arrives at 9:35 PM ($208 + luggage). Mon departure is 3:55 PM. To get to Vegas from Phoenix would require another airline (roughly $165). Or you could fly directly to SLO on another airline. $288 from Phoenix RT. But remember that you would use two different airports about 25-30 miles apart.
