Probably because this additional paperwork will place a burden on businesses and will likely cause a lot of headaches (and delays) for American citizens trying to work (as the systems to do these kinds of checks are far from perfect).

Strange ... aren't "conservatives" supposed to be against government placing additional burdens on business, and aren't "conservatives" supposed to believe in the freedom of businesses to hire and fire as they please?

Maybe they could build a fence around the offending business. Sorry, couldn't resist. :thumb:

I'd like em to build a fence around the illegal workers and the business owners that hire them. We could then put their assets up for sale on ebay, and use that to pay down the construction and admin cost.

Don't forget to factor in a shredder for the budget -- it will be needed to take care of the Constitution as your enforce your big government anti-business police state.

Absolutely, serious that is.

It would eliminate any sort of bureaucratic program other than a case worker doing an inventory and placing it on eBay and handling the processing and paperwork.

It's a simple and proven system(ebay) with a very accepted format, and it would stop these idiots in their tracks from hiring illegal aliens, which is all I want.

So, in your opinion, the government should be able to tell you who you can and can't hire, and if you dare go against their wishes (or if you don't realize you are going against their wishes), you think the government should be able to strip you of all of your assets and possessions?

Are you sure this is a precedent you really want?

And what happens when we learn that eBay has a guy on their payroll from Canada whose visa has expired? Do we nationalize eBay?

I'm looking for an end to Gov't as we know it and a few people who have the balls to live by that decision and start over with the constitution and secured borders and a show me some proof of being an American citizen or GTFO.

The term "American citizen" is nothing more than a title bestowed upon someone by the U.S. government.

How do you propose to end government as we know it while at the same time strengthening the government's role in regulating commerce in the United States?

Actually, I find this most humorous.... Clinton/Reno came up w/ an EO taking all the teeth out of Employer Sanctions (created by IRCA in 1986) circa 1996. And now a new EO to start enforcing the law again.... how funny!!! The Executive Branch deciding that they want to enforce the laws... how unique!!

Some additional information about the system in question, and the reasons why many people aren't excited about the idea of the government forcing employees to use it to ask permission to hire somebody:

Because Bush has been on the "wrong" side of this issue (according to most "conservatives") since he was elected President. I always laugh when conservatives say they can't stand MCain because of the bill he pushed regarding their status. That bill was the reflection of Bush's campaign pledges on this matter. But for some reason, they only got mad at McCain for it.
