What can anyone tell me about the transfer from BYU Kessman. Is he the dude that is playing for the Missoula Titans and will he play for the Grizz this fall.

Currently listed on our roster as a RB. Expect to see him play!

"Ryan spent one year at BYU last season and was a redshirt...he was a standout at San Jacinto High School where at wide receiver he was chosen All-C.I.F., all-state, all-league, and his league's “Player of the Year” as a senior...he had 43 catches for 848 yards and 12 touchdowns, and he had 1,493 total yards at receiver and as a returner his senior year...his high school football coach was Bill Powell...Personal: Parents: Steven and Paulynn Kessman of San Jacinto. Major: Undergraduate studies." - montanagrizzlies.com

I hear he plays for the Missoula Phoenix. If he is paid that is a NCAA violation and therefore cant play.

He's on their roster, yes, but unpaid.

"Q. What is Semi-Pro Football anyway?
A. Semi-Pro or Minor League football exists for players who either want to continue playing the game after their College or High School days are over or for guys who never had the opportunity to play before. You are not paid to play but it is real football, not recreational ball and is not for the faint hearted. "

Although I'm sorry that things didn't apparently work out for Ryan with the Griz, It sure is nice to have him on board with the Phoenix!

Good game today, Ryan!

Their loss is our gain. Welcome aboard Ryan and Henry Atkinson. I look forward to you guys really assisting with our running game in the coming weeks. Ben, Boyce, Kirby and Reggie will challenge you to earn more playing time.

I thought that Kessman could not dedicate him self to the griz because he had to work to make enough money to pay for school. football was taken up too much time and could not do all three.

personally I am starting to agree with some comments that I have herd this spring. Like this kid is not all there. has to many problems and is not much or if any better than the kids we have now.

my question was after the two corners packed up and left could we give one of thier schollarships to this Kessman kid so he can play this fall for us?

answer: are you sh___ing me. this kid can't hold a candle to our guys.

you may not all agree but I think I will put trust in the coaches to do the right thing and make the right call. Not saying that I agree with them all but they have brought us along way
losers have to have fans too or it would not be any fun

I think that's the roster for the Missoula semi-pro team, the Raptors/Phoenix/Titas etc (did they change their team name again?)

I spoke to one of the owners 4 weeks ago and he said RK is on the team. He is having fun playing football etc. What a waste, guess those early threads about him being an issue were right. Come on the board, make excuses etc, do whatever. But if you were committed to being a Griz do you think you'd really take the risk of semi pro or whatever the he** it is. Dude, you are wasting your talents. I promise you, 10 years from now you'll be saying you ****** up.

The part that I don't understand is why stay in Missoula then. He has no ties to Missoula. Is he thinking that he only has to wait it out to get a Griz scholly? Was he promised the next one that becomes available?

Something just does not add up...

Ryan Kessman

Postby Dallas on Fri Jun 20, 2008 9:51 am

Hey guys how are you? Ryan isn't looking for a scholarship. Ryan will not be playing for the Griz. It was nice to see Haulk and several coaches at Ryans home games while he played for the Phoenix. Ryan is good friends with Cole. Who was the announcer at the home games. I believe Ryan only played in 2-3 games as he had several injuries that have already healed. Ryan's job got him transfered to San Diego where he will be attending Univ. San Diego. He won't be playing for them. Ryan will be playing for the San Diego Thunder a semi pro team that is sponsored by the San Diego Chargers. Ryan will finish his college there. With Ryan in Calif all his college fees are paid for by his fathers VA Benifits. Ryan loves it there in Missoula and really wanted to stay. He has made many friends which most of them are from the UM Griz.

Good luck to Ryan. He maybe should think of working for U-Haul. He could use the employee discount. :thumb:

Do you feel better now Kadeezy? By the way, what ever happenned to all the grandiose athletic facility improvements you told us were coming to Sac? I see the basketabll arena has been scrapped in favor or "remodeling" that substandard high school gym? Why add seats when you can't fill the 1000 you have now?

I actually feel much better.

In terms of the facilities, they just completed a month-long remodel of the Hornet's Nest which included a new court, and they also fixed lighting, repainted, and did some bleecher maintenance.

Football's multi-million dollar fieldhouse is now up and running and is easily the best in the BSC if not all of FCS. That should definately help recruiting.

The arena plans have not been scrapped and with the recent modifications to the Hornet's nest (naming the court after volleyball coach Debby Colberg), I would guess that they don't plan on a half-assed excuse for a new arena. The Rec center and arena are still in the plans (albeit way down the road).

Kadeezy... do you have a link to some info on the fieldhouse? Sac already has an exceptional track (right?), i'm assuming the fieldhouse was built with the track program in mind. Not only, but a big part of it. pretty cool.

The track facility is already considered one of the top (if not the top) in the nation. The last two Olympic Trials and numerous NCAA Championships have been held there. Football and Track are the only two sports housed in the new $11 million facility.
