Back from the game, feeling better...

...Very impressed with the Griz this evening. Did you boys and girls get to see it? Legs looked good in warmups and I told my father "we win 71-66". Pretty close. Easterns big men could do nothing. Interior defense was outstanding tonite. Altering shots, blocking shots, boxing out, Eastern got very few second chances. Seyfert played a great game (especially the first half) on defense. Venters was good also. Griz had quick hands tonite and slapped a bunch of balls away. Team defense was very good. Criswell missed his first 3 or 4 shots, then warmed up after his first 3. Horne shot the ball very well also, and was aggressive taking the ball to the hoop. Eastern pressed most of the game and we handled it beautifully. Very poised, good decisions, took care of the ball. Mansell was good. Got doubled all night on the inbounds pass but got the ball back to Davis in the middle, then got it back and brought it up no problem. Only negative is we could shoot free throws better. What a difference an opponent and a few days makes. I thought Eastern would win the conference this year. Guys were excited after the game and it was great to see them leave the court smilin! Never seen so many Eastern students at a game before. They all left en masse with about 4 minutes left. Then I was smilin.

This is our first win in Cheney since 2000 (plus they've swept us in the regular season the past 3 years)...way to get multiple monkeys off our back at once.
