Remember the good old days when Van Halen, Boston Doobie Brothers and other major bands used to play Missoula? Now it seems all we get here is washed-up bands or hip-hop. Meanwhile Bozeman schedules the Warped tour, Dave Mathews, Bare Naked Ladies, etc. WTH has happened to the Missoula concert scene?
hey don't forget that we've had the great "Hair Band Reuninon Tours" in the fair grounds the last few summers...
I dont know, I dont get it either. If they are coming to Bozeman via I-90, they've gotta be rolling through this town anyway, you'd think. There was/is talk of lots of 'politics' going on over there, and does ASUM control the concerts now, or is it some other entity?
Not sure, but I agree, I'd love to see more frequent acts coming in.. I was pissed I missed the God Smack concert

Hey GGG.........1 positive aspect of living in Boise is the concerts. I went to Godsmack last summer and i was 30 feet from the stage and there was no pushing/shoving. Couldn't have been more than a couple thousand people there. I couldn't believe it. AWESOME concert. They're coming back in March with Metallica!!!! I would imagine they'll be a few more people at that one

I was at UM in the mid 70's when there was a resurgence of concerts there. During that time I saw shows by the Doobie Brothers, Chicago, REO SPeedwagon, The Beach Boys, Roberta Flack and the highlight was the Grateful Dead putting on their show in the Adams Fieldhouse, which had to be one of the finest concert facilities as far as acoustics are concerned in the Northwest.
The air circulation was great, the sound was great. After I left UM and attended a few concerts in the concrete box of the Metra I said I would never attend another concert again unless it was in Missoula.
The last I knew there was nothing to compare to the acoustics in the Fieldhouse ... hard to figure why Bozeman would get the best shows into that concrete septic tank of the Breeden fieldhouse.
Slightly off topic, what about the Aber (Arbor) Day Kegger. 1-3 bands and 12+ hrs of pure party. Drinking, dancing, laughing, singing and best of all beer mud slides, oh yea! Can anyone recall all the locations???
The reason that Missoula doesn't get as many concerts (from what I've heard) is because the remodel really screwed you guys...as far as concerts. Apparently it is a nightmare for the crews to unload, because of where the load in door is located. Also, MSU has a full time concert promoter who has been the "the business" for quite some time and has a lot of good contacts, as well a great reputation. I believe that UM also has a promoter, but is sort of new to the business. Also, neither ASMSU nor ASUM brings nearly as many big shows to campus because they don't have the money or the organization that is needed these days. ASMSU/ASUM puts on a lot of smaller concerts at local clubs/bars.

Weren't they at the Kerr ranch up Miller Creek (now there is houses on the site). Heart used to play at the Kegger.
So just to add to our misery Kid Rock and Fleetwood Mac are also coming to Bozeman this summer, but not Missoula. I talked to a guy in facilities at the U, he said the grid is too small to handle the speakers and lights? Anyone else hear this.
On a positive note I hear Big Sky brewing is working on having concerts in a field, may be some pretty big bands (heard Aerosmith) coming. Anyone know anything about this?
