Despite real bad, horrid, terrible shooting, Lady Griz won a close one today against Washington State Cougars. How a team that lost to St. Maries shooting 33% but beat Washington State shooting only 30% is quite puzzling. They should have lost this one too.

Lady Griz also got out rebounded for the first time this year.

Now, the reason they won:

Washington State is one bad team that has a somewhat good defense but poor offense.

Lady Griz turned the ball over only 10 times.

Jill Henkle hit key 3 point baskets and made 11 points.

Lady Griz played good defense.

And Holly Tyler made 19 points on 6 of 17 shooting and 8 rebounds.

Brooklyn Lorenzen had 11 assists for the game.

It looked like Washington State could never get a handle on the ball. I like it when Montana plays poor teams from major conferences. It's always good to say you beat a Pac-10 team, even if it's a crappy one like WSU.

How about that backwards half-court shot from Monte? I think that was a swish, and it only took one try. I'm glad I went just for seeing that.
