This is supposed to be a great Oregon team. Hope our inside player are ready. Do we need someone who can take their player one on one and create so that we can open up the middle a bit? Seems to me that we have a lot of flat-footed shooters who can shoot but nobody who can create.
Only player with the quickness and speed to create her own shot is not ready for the big time now. Personally, I think she should have redshirted, but her name is Darcy Sandoval. Clearly isn't confident out there yet. Do not think she is going to play many minutes this year. She may be the one who didn't want to redshirt.
But do we need a player with the capability to create her own shot? Would be nice, but we do have a very good point guard in Lorenzen who can dish it out to an open shooter. Lady Griz did get some good shots off but were colder than an arctic ice storm against Washington State.
Oregon is going to be tough, but is Oregon that good? We will see. Oregon only received one vote in the top 25 ap poll. We will find out if it is because they just do not get the respect they should or they are a good team but not much better than Lady Griz. Lady Griz's loss to St. Maries lost the votes they received in a previous poll.
