Actually I wouldn't mind seeing Roenick in a Boston uniform.....he played his college hockey there....would be neat to see. Regional coverage for Missoula hads been Detroit games? That cracks me up. I would think Denver or Minnesota even.

Looks like Jeremy is Hollywood bound. Spot on ESPN just sent him to the Kings. I don't know all that much about the Kings, other than Luc Robataille is still there.

It's bizzare. We have to have an eastern feed or something. You think you're tuning to the 'West game' between the Avs and San Jose, and get Detroit and Philly. Not that I am complaining, I like Detroit too, but it really makes planning a pain in the patoot. Especially when they come up against Griz home games! Do you tape the hockey game, or the Griz (so you can replay the ones you missed screaming your head off at WGS). The choices, the choices...

Today the Avs signed Brad May. Nothing special as far as goal scoring is concerned, but I think he will provide alot of toughness and will be a great player to stick in front of the net to block the goalies vision. Steve Konovalchuk was good at that last year, but the Avs will need him to be scoring the goals and let May do the screening

I'm drawing a blank...was May formerly with the Canucks?? I see the Avs locked in Hejduk in a 5 year deal. Happy to see that. :D

Cool, glad to see him on our side of the bench this year. I saw him take on Iginla in 2003 in Calgary. He's a big guy. I agree with you on screening Konowalchuck, I just hope he keeps his extracurricular penalty minutes reasonable. :D

I would agree with you on keeping the penalty minutes down, but when I took a closer look I think I found the real reason why hes on the roster. Peter Worrell, as of right now, isnt signed with the Avalanche, so May is now the enforcer of the team. Even though many people dont like the "goons" in hockey, May now looks like an even better sign because to compete in the West, you need 4 things on a team: Goal scorers, tough defensemen, a solid goalie, and a tough guy to protect your star players.

I think you are spot on. I'd take May or Worrell in a heartbeat. May can actually skate for one thing. Worrell franly didn't do much for the Avs in 2003, I think he spent some of it injured too. I think it's a good pickup in that respect.

Of course with Bertuzzi being reinstated today (boo hiss), that first Avs-Canucks game could be really interesting. I hope they keep the reins on everybody tucked in tight. :-?

Did you all see Bettmans remarks on Bertuzzi? Thats crap to me that he is given reinstatement. As much as I root for the Avs to lose what happened to Moore was horrible.

Saw Whitney has ended up in Carolina....Thats a nice pick up for them.

Whats your opinion on Gretzky as coach in Phoenix?

Pronger went to Edmonton. :( Brewer has some big shoes to fill.

Anyways my Blues playoff streak is going to continue, just try and stop them. :)

25 seasons in a row baby, soon to be 26.

FYI 3 of my top 5 most hated teams are in hockey.

1. Griz (duh)
2. Red Wings (GOD I HATE THE RED WINGS)
3. Yankees (O's fan)
4. Avs
5. Blackhawks (good ol Blues rival)

#1 and #2 are very, very close, but I gave the nod to the griz simply because I have to hear it from them every day. :)

Its nice that the Blues have that streak but it would be better for ya if they could win. I still love the 96 series between the Wings and Blues. When the Captain won the series on the shot ......I won't remind you anymore.

*shakes fist in anger*

The Blues and Red Wings always have heated playoff series, but the Red Wings always win.

Screw that stupid Red Sox curse they had going on, making the playoffs 25 years in a row without winning a Cup is more than a curse.

Hmmm.. top hated teams....do I want to go there... I'm not a fan of much MLB or NBA so that's not a fair comparison to toss in. Hockey is a pretty safe area...I'll give my top three to start the season off: (Note. I am staying out of the Blues/Red Wings DMZ...<LOL>)

1. Vancouver Canucks
2. San Jose Sharks
3. Ottawa Senators

The rest depends on who is playing who, and how far we are into the season. 8)

BTW- As much as I hate to see big names move around, I think Pronger will do really well in Edmonton. He makes a nice fit in their new lineup.

My top threre hated teams are:

1. St. Louis----always great games but togh to take a loss.
2. Philly--- I hate the uniforms, they had Lindros, etc.
3. Devils--- After what they did to the Wings in 95 I still can't stomach them.

The 3 teams I hate the most

1. How can an Avs fan not say Red Wings as #1
2. Canucks
3. Minnestoa Wild (Still havent forgotten the 03 playoffs)

Well, if they are on the same ice, it's Avs all the way. Red Wings are sitting about #4 on my list, so they are in there, just not the first on my list. I'd much rather throw rocks at Vancouver. I'm weird that way.

Times are a'changing...used to be quite the rivalry but that's kind of going out the window with the new schedules. Calgary-Edmonton is still a good one to get involved in, but they rarely televise that series down here, have to get CBC for that. Have you seen that with the Blues rivalries?

With the Blues and Wings? If thats what your asking we have Fox Sports Detroit and we get another Detroit affiliate to show the game.

Osgood is a Wing again. Its good to see him back in Detroit. He was never given enough credit for the 98 cup win. People here are excited to have him back.

Actually I was just curious of anyone else has seen their regular rivalries bein altered over the last couple of years. In the Avs case, it was the Red Wings, now it seems to be Vancouver...of course that could just be my perception too. Congrats on Osgood. He'll do you proud! :D

My big concern now is getting to watch the games...I'm hoping ESPN picks up some of them. Haven't seen anything on Center ICE yet, so I am not sure how much that is goign to potentially cost...or if I can even get it on my box. :o

I saw where OLN has been given the television rights for the NHL. That will be different to watch. But I guess more power to them.

I do think the rivalries have changed. With the Wings it is now the Blues that is our big rivalry in my eyes. If Draper ever gets nailed like he did be Lemiuex then we have a new rivalry.

Hopefully ESPN still does NHL 2NITE, otherwise hockey will really be hurting in homes that dont get OLN. Bresnan cable will start carring Altitude in Great Falls in october, so Ill get to see the Avs every night :D

I also read that NBC will show a few games. Thank god for the feed from Detroit here.

That's good news! Maybe I'll get lucky and Bresnan will carry it here on the Rattlesnake feed. I've asked but have gotten no answers. Ever since they scooped up the Cable Montana contracts (me), I've had nothing but problems from them. My entire cable feed was gone last weekend. Very frustrating considering how much they charge us. :-?

BTW- I think NHL 2Nite was a great show, but I don't think it had enough pull to be a topliner on ESPN. Might have been Barry Melrose's suits! :o

Just a little bump here, but great start to the playoffs. Anytime the Red Wings win in OT is good for me. Grizavs fan what is up with your Avalanache? If they only played all year like that!

Sorry I'm late getting back on topic, no Internet on the weekends. Loved the 2OT game on Friday.

So what happened to Detroit yesterday (4/23)? Things were looking great at the start, and then I went out to do some errands and came back and it was 4-2 Edmonton. 1-1. :o

As to the Avs, geez, I have NO idea. If we played like that all year, we'd should have been pushing Detroit for the President's Cup. As it was, I was just wringing my hands and praying during the final regular season games. I'm hoping that they have playoff fever and keep it up for a while. Lots of players seem to be showing that spark again. Of course Games 2-4 will tell if that is playing out... Lots of series are 1-1 at the moment...Here's hoping Turco and the Stars continue to have an off day. :thumb:

What a game last night. The Avs took a 3-0 lead, only to fall behind 4-3 late in the 3rd. Brett Clark scored a nice short handed goal to send the game into OT, where Sakic scored the game winner. Now the Avs are up 2-0 and the series is heading back to Denver.
