There's really only two compelling reasons to watch the M's for the remainder of the 2005 season - every fifth day when Felix takes the mound or if you want to see the revolving door of talent that will be shuttled up from Tacoma. Next week, though, we've got a must see TV moment headed our way, M's fans.
On Wednesday, Felix takes the mound in Safeco against the Yankees. The Yankees scheduled starter is...Randy Johnson. There is talk that RJ may be sent to the bullpen and skip a start but that will still leave him in line for this start against Felix.
HooHa! Talk about a "Past vs Future" game. The last true ace pitcher that the M's had vs the ace in waiting.
The Yankees will be the first truly intense test that Felix will face. That offense is scary and he might stumble but it should make for good viewing. The Seattle crowd will be amped to see him pitch and if he does well, his reputation will be cemented. ESPN is talking about televising the game on one of their channels but even if they don't, the unofficial Yankee-Red Sox network will be paying close attention. Should be fun.
