2016 Griz Football Recruiting (38)- 20 Verbals/ 8 Transfers/ 10 Walk-Ons & 3 Offers

Off gogriz.com, looks like 17 seniors leaving after this year....I believe almost all of these are on full scholarship which would imply 17 schollies available. I've put them in order of what I think is the biggest impact (loss):

DE Tyrone Holmes Sr.
LB Jeremiah Kose R-Sr.
LB Kendrick Van Ackeren Sr.
LB Herbert Gamboa Sr.
OL John Schmaing R-Sr.
WR Jamaal Jones R-Sr.
CB Nate Harris R-Sr.
S Justin Whitted R-Sr.
DE Derek Crittenden R-Sr.
WR Tyler Lucas R-Sr.
LB Connor Lebsock R-Sr.
DT Jamal Wilson R-Sr.
S Eric Johnson Sr.
S Jake Dallaserra R-Sr.
K Chris Lider R-Sr.
P Stephen Shaw R-Sr.
K Daniel Sullivan Sr.

Not a SINGLE JR linebacker on the squad...weird. SUUUURE would be nice to see some of those underclass LB's step up and play well this year...(Strahm, Thomas, Vis, etc...) to get a warm fuzzy about next year's LB crew. Three safeties gone after this year as well (ANOTHER position with no JR's until Yamen Sanders transferred in), which means a lot Sanders & Rasmussen next year. Plus a whole nother set of kickers/punters to grip over next year. Great.

If that last post didn't depress any of you let me give it a shot.
I found out last night that Montana nearly added another receiver. As a senior in South Lake High in Groveland, FL James Brooks gathered some attention from Notre Dame and Michigan, and a host of other FBS schools (http://247sports.com/Recruitment/James-Brooks-8820/RecruitInterests) before settling on Kent State. He was a 3-star recruit. Going into his senior season he was named offensive MVP of the Elite Scouting Service camp. He has a mother who had a stroke at the age of 12 and a sister who was diagnosed with Down syndrome and he spent much of his time in high school taking care of them. Anyway, last season as a redshirt sophomore at Kent State he caught 16 balls for 283 yards and 1 TD in nine games. He had his flight booked to Missoula before finding out that he fell 3 classes shy of meeting academic standards. This is his high school tape, maybe from his junior season: http://www.hudl.com/athlete/138258/highlights/293134/v2

His mother had a stroke when HE was 12, I assume.

That is a little confusing. I hope she was not a mother that young.

From my understanding, she was not. In a story on ESPN.com he said, "My mother had a stroke when she was 12 and she struggles with things sometimes. My sister was born with Down syndrome. It's just the three of us."

Jack Smith QB from Phoenix committed to UNLV

UNLV must be one of the best recruiting schools in FCS...

They now have the former head coach from that private super high school (Bishop Gorman) in Vegas as their head coach so there's a lot of buzz in that program now. Besides everyone loves the idea of living in Vegas... till you live in Vegas that is. If you can avoid the hookers, STD's, The Green Door, drugs, gambling and gangs it might make for a fun four years.

Vegas is quite nice if you live in the nice master planned communities, like Southern Highlands.

His HS times on www.athletic.net don't match up with his self-reported www.hudl.com time of 10.9.

But none-the-less, he looks like a real good player.

I like how Stitt is REALLY upgrading the receiver position at UM. IT'S BECOMING RECEIVER U :!:

Certain parts of Vegas are great, but you still have to drive through the crap hole parts sometimes. Personally I like Vegas for the most part. If you stay out of the crappy areas, yes it can be great...but as a college kid, we all know you're gonna find yourself somewhere you shouldn't be from time to time.

Guess the FCS part went right over your head...

grizindabox -

I caught your FCS slam to UNLV right off the bat.

I was actually talking to XxSpectrexX (with my Southern Highlands comment), who you deleted to make it look like I was talking to you.

There were too many embedded quotes so I had to get rid of one...

I assumed you hit the wrong key, but rest assured your jab at them made me chuckle briefly.

Long time lurker...and posting because I haven't seen anything about this offer yet.

Friend forwarded me this link...
https://twitter.com/V_Tino33/status/627710854239096832

Valentino Daltoso, Offensive Lineman, 2016, Boise High School

By the look of his twitter page, looks like he's hit a lot of camps this summer. Big kid, moves well. However, only an honorable mention All-Conference at a school not known for football excellence.

Highlights here: http://www.reelrecruits.com/athletes/football/class-of-2016/valentino-daltoso
Also a basketball player: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yGOL9AvA-8

Looking forward to following him and the other recruits this fall.

Go Griz!
