Let's have some fun with this... In your opinion, what team (any division) should drop a division & why?

If and when the split comes... division 3 bound teams should be, because of lack of success and low fan support.
SUU
NAU
ISU
NCU

Bubble Teams
PSU
Sac
EWU
Weber
Poly
UC Davis

FBS (simply talking B-Ball and Football)

Idaho
WSU
Utah State
Colorado State
UNLV
Wyoming
San Diego State

Add NMSU, FIU, Wake Forest, Kent State, Oregon State, & Northwestern!

I just looked up all time records... & Oregon State has a worse overall W/L record in the Pac-12 than Wazzu... :?

By record the bottom FBS 21 in Winning %... The main reason for them not to drop down is hisory.

Eastern Washington won it all in 2010. Kinda early to dismiss them.

Is the basis of this strictly football performance? I'm not sure what Grizmusician's intent was but positive that's what Payton is basing this upon. I do understand this is a "football" forum but just wondering.

I can say that based on facilities alone, NAU is in pretty good shape when compared to the rest of the Big Sky other than playing hoops in a sub-par gym. Practice and training facilities @ NAU have seen some major upgrades recently. I will admit that my first choice to watch a college football game is not in a dome but as domes go, the Skydome has improved greatly with last year's renovation and is more aesthetically pleasing and functional than most. The multitude of dome-haters on here can and will continue to state their opinions. But if the Arizona Cardinals continue to say they love training @ NAU's facilities and Flagstaff/NAU gets high rankings in NFL training facility surveys then I'll say that speaks volumes.

NAU's success in soccer and swimming and diving are positive. NAU track and field and cross-country in conference is sort of like your Griz and football. Dominance. Maybe even worthy of moving up to compete in the Pac-12? NAU men's hoops, apart from last year's disaster, has more than held it's own historically. They are consistently competitive in conference. The underachievers have been womens hoops, volleyball and football.

Interesting topic, Grizmusician. How are things in Butte? Sadly, not able to make the trip up this summer.

You are right... I was basing my opinion on BBall and Football and general fan support, by no means can I tell you what the NAU Swimming team is like. But the reality is Football is king and BBall is a close second... all the other sports exist because of the two biggies, and that is what will guide the split.

This post is mis-titled. It should read, "What conferences should drop a division?"

The answer being everyone except the SEC, Pac 1X, Big X & Big X. Although they might consider leaving in the ACC or Big East just to provide a little more variety for out of conference game schedules.

Each team in the remaining conferences are only fodder for the big dogs to use in attempting to pad their FBS W-L records. Happily (for the dogs) those teams typically comply with the big dogs. So the real question is can you provide a valid reason why the Conference USA's of the world shouldn't drop down a division?

EWU just won an FCS title and has played the Griz tougher than anybody else in the last 20 years in the Big Sky. Putting them in with NC and SU is laughable.

I have to admit SUU is Behind and needs to catch up facility wise and in other areas, but why do you guys seriously believe the griz shouldn't drop down too??? Do you really believe that the griz are thought of highly on a national level??? What are y'all sipping on up there E&J brandy or mad dog 20/20  year in year out who are the griz beating outside the Big sky??? I'm out

I sure hope the other SUU fans aren't assholes like you... I'll assume that you're not the norm & you just have poor manners... especially considering you're still not even an official member of the Big Sky yet.
