QB play

Selle clearly showed his talent and leadership today. Roper will be a great back up. I am happy for the boy who has put his time in with the U of M program. GO Griz.

I prefer Selle too but he missed some open throws today. I love his leadership and ability to check into the correct play. His intangibles are what puts him over the top for me.

Selle was 13 for 26  . He had some nice shorter passes and was erratic and off target on long passes. I don't think you hand him the starter's job based on this performance. I also don't see how you go deep into the playoffs without a good long passing game. We have at least 2 guys (Mariani and Sambrano) with the wheels to get open deep. We need to be able to get the ball to them.

I do not believe we have a #1 QB either...And may not for the entire year...The game today was won by a great running game (thanks to a great performance by O-line) and a very good defensive effort...

The 2 QB system confuses the absolute crap out of opposing d coordinators. I will be very disapointed if we move away from it.

Weber has a All-American CB and DE that were gettin burned whenever we switched. Roper (and Selle) threw a few gems that were dropped today.

We have two(3?) of the best QBs in FCS playing for us. Get them both on the field.

Special teams needed to tighten up early on and the 4th and goal right before the half really pissed me off, but besides that the Griz played like champions today.

Undefeted reg season is all but a sure thing at this point.

We will smoke any Valley or Southland team the playoff comittee can throw at us.

Let's prove we can beat the hell out of a 3 seed CAA team at home.

Wow, I agree with pretty much all you wrote (I know you could care a less). I think going undefeated is not a given yet. Without a doubt we have 3 very good quarterbacks.

Is anyone on here knowledgeable enough to discuss the QB mechanics, or is everything just 40,000 foot generalizations?

Oh well, i'll make another observation about Roper's mechanics, which I believe is really hurting his accuracy. Simply put, he does not step into his throws. Instead he slings the ball 3/4 arm off his back foot. This causes lots of his throws to sail high, which is NOT what a coach wants! Phenicie keeps calling that roll-left play for Roper, and he can not make that throw accurately because of his poor mechanics.

Has Roper not been attending practice or putting in any time? Sorry, I know what you are trying to get at but just because a kid is from Montana doesn't mean he should get favoritism. Both QBs have done great and I appreciate both their efforts. Selle had a great game today but don't trash Roper because he happened to be born elsewhere. Some transfers might throw a fit if they weren't getting enough reps but both Roper and Selle have put the team first and have handle the rotation quite admirably.

Yes, but with ISU on the road, UNC at home and then at MSU, the last one is what I think could keep the Griz from going undefeated

Selle may have only been 13-26; but he avoided sacks, picked up yards with his feet and the offense was just better was he was in. To me; he is the clear #1 QB. Roper was unimpressive.. again

We did throw long . Remember the pass from Selle to Mariani late 4th qtr.A beautiful timing pass, and it went for over 40 yrds.

Actually his ball floats when he doesn't bring his hip through which causes him to cut off his follow through...just sayin.

Selle showed that the o-line opened bigger holes for chase when he was in today...that's it. missed some very wide open people today. If we get against a D like richmond's, we have to hit those play action passes when our rec. are five yards behind the defenders. Selle has better running ability, Roper has a better arm.

Roper may have a stronger arm but his play at qb reminds me of Swogger on a bad day. Selle seems more in charge of the offense and has a much better view of what is happening on the field. To be blunt Selle is just plain smarter than Roper on the field and in the classroom.

Today was the first time this really showed. However, it is hard to question 8-0 and having two QB on the sidelines that the opposing D does not know which one is coming at them.

Oh, Blgs Griz Fan, you said exactly what I've been saying all season long. Roper has reminded me of Swogger from Day One. And, I just feel more comfortable when Selle is in the game.

Does anyone know for sure why Roper never came back in late in the second half? A couple people sitting near me thought he'd gotten hurt; I didn't think that was the reason he was no longer playing.

Selle has a much better grasp of the offense, and is a better runner. Dave Dickneson gpa was probably much better than tom brady's, harder courses too.. I am not sure that makes him a better qb, to be blunt. I like Selle, I like Roper, not sure selle showed me anything today that would make me think he is the clear cut better qb.
