Coach Delaney spoke at a roundtable in Billings today. Here are some quotes, via the Cat-Griz Insider (Greg Rachac of the Billings Gazette) twitter feed:

Coach Delaney says there's been "a lot of crap" and rumors floating around Griz program, but far more positives

Delaney says he still doesn't know why Pflugrad and O'Day were fired and "probably never will"

Delaney: "We've had some things happen, but we're moving forward"

Delaney: "We won't be quite as aggressive defensively as coach Breske was. We probably won't take as many chances"

Delaney: "Will we change much from what Robin did on offense? No."

Delaney says Jordy Johnson's situation is "100 percent he said, she said" and it "will work itself out"

Delaney says LB Jordan Tripp "is so healthy it's scary"

Delaney says he wants to be the #Griz head coach for 2 or 3 years

Delaney says the Big Sky Conference realignment "is baloney." He'd rather play everyone in the league each year

Also, agree 100%, he's on the money with that.
 
Advise for Coach Delaney: Don't comment about anything non-football related, leave any of those comments to the President of the University and/or the Athletic Director. No comment on O'Day, Pflugrad, JJ situation, rape allegations and DOJ and DOE investigations. Be quiet, coach the football team, and comment on the play on the field........otherwise it is likely the "Butte" in you is going to come out and you run the risk of putting your foot in your mouth and you may not even know you are doing it.
 
to say he doesnt know why oday and pflu were fired is really a bit of a white lie. he may not have it in writting but we ALL damn well know Engstrom fired them in an effort to blame them for the UM rape fiasco it has atm.

Listen to coach speak last night in Sidney. Was impressed with his positive attitude. I think we are in good shape moving forward.
 
After all this time I am begining to believe Tokyo does not like "Rolls Royce".......Perhaps it is the deer in the headlights look that Rolls has?????

Meanwhile back at the rape capitol of the world, Obama is checking out the Griz football team and others that may not like women of the nite.......!
 
I like that he calls it as it is but not sure that will work well for him going forward. I'm afraid that being a head coach will teach him that coach speak and political correctness are the safer way to approach things in the future.

"Defense will not take as many chances".....sounds like he will not be the risk taker that others have been.

I hope he does well as head coach and gets the chance to coach for three years.

in refernce to less risk taking, could be that he feels so confident in abilities/potentials of our defense that we do not need to take alot of chances to succeed....
i really like the guy.....

It very well may be first11. I hope they continue to bring lots of pressure and keep offenses on the run. I really like the guy as well.
 
it's easy to take a lot of risks when you have TJ, Roots, Lisowski...etc in the defensive secondary. I'm wondering if the decision to be less aggressive on Defense is based more on personnel or philosophy.
 
"We won't be as agressive defensively" , true but also went on to say we will only blitz 90% of the time instead of 100% of the time. I like Mick's attitude and no bs style. I think the Griz will be strong. I don't think he knows what the outcome of Jordy will be though. Sounded to me like he has his fingers crossed more than anything on Jordy.
 
Delaney is a good guy and a great asset to UM football.

But its fair to doubt his statement he has no idea why Jim Oday and Robin Pflugrad were fired.

Royce fired them to cover his ass and try to blame them for the UM rape fiasco end of story. Its not a secret but Delaney is trying to be diplomatic and pretend he has no idea when the truth is known by everyone including himself.

And yes his comments on football are refreshing. But Royce has some shit coming to him and I look forward to seeing it served to him.

I don’t have a problem with anything Delaney said. It sounded genuine to me.

Great news about Tripp, too - he’ll make our defense that much better.
