Eric Matthews QB - Blinn College JC (TX)

Keep an eye on this name. The coaches are recruiting him and another JC QB out of Cali to come in the event JJ is expelled. I promise you guys I'm not pulling this out of nowhere just to stir up debate. It's by no means a done deal or anything, simply just a recruit at this point. This is the same JC Cam Newton went to prior to Auburn, so you know their football program is on point. He is an ultra-athletic dual-threat QB that would fit our spread option VERY nicely. Peep the highlights and dream of the possibilities.

On the JJ front, Engstrom has until tomorrow to uphold or deny the decision the Student Conduct Board (or whatever its officially called) made regarding JJ, so we should be hearing something very soon. The numbers on the Board's vote weren't even close to being in JJ's favor, so it would be an absolute shock for RE to overturn it. I'm hoping for a miracle, but it looks like we can add another name to the long list of sacrificial lambs from this debacle.

I just highly doubt a kid from Texas will go to Montana if he has FBS offers from 2 schools that I am sure he knows more about.

Damn bro, simply made a comment, didn't think it would upset you enough to post 3 identical posts. For the record, Texas St. is FCS for now, they don't move up till next year. Memphis is FBS, but are a consistently mediocre to shitty team in an even shittier conference . Yes, most recruits will take the FBS offer and run, but its definitely not out of the question for us to compete for recruits with these types of schools. If anything, I think the fact that he's a Southern boy hurts our chances more. I just heard very reliable info that we are recruiting the kid hard, that's it.

My understanding is that he Regents won't let RE make a decision on JJ until Van Valkenburg makes his decision on whether to charge JJ.

My understanding (from someone familiar with the process) is actually the reverse. VV has been holding out on announcing his decision until Royce makes his announcement public, in order to underpin the "integrity" of the university's process. According to people familiar with the legal backing of the student code, RE only has 10 days from the Board's vote to make the final decision, which would be today or tomorrow. The new student conduct code is based only on a preponderance of evidence, so the U doesn't need the weight of the decision of the county attorney's office to justify their own. I guess time will tell which one of us is right.

Now back to talking about recruits...

For everyone who's watched this video and still believes that a weak-armed QB is going to lead us to a National Championship... THIS IS WHAT AN OFFENSE LOOKS LIKE WHEN YOU HAVE A QB WHO CAN THROW OVER A DEFENSE... Bombs Away Baby!!

What are you A-holes doing recruiting Texas?!?!?! That's MSU's territory...

He looks like an electric player...I hope JJ stays.

Get J.D. Quinn down there to show him the kind of O-lineman we have at Montana. And he can talk Texan....

Not that it really matters but they are FBS for 2012. Might be transition or whatever. They host some FBS teams this year. Nevada, TX tech, new mexico state, LA Tech. Either way, I agree with AZGriz...with that arm and play, get him here! (minus the fact no scholarships????)

Here's my question: With a gun like that, why would it matter if JJ was expelled or NOT?
Because Delaney gave "all" the remaining scholarships after signing day to walkons and guys on partial scholarship. Delaney said "all" which I find a little hard to believe they wouldn't have a remaining scholarship laying around for the right drop down. But Delaney was very adament when he was in Billings that he will be giving scholarsips to walkon players "much more than both Pflugrad and even Hauck." So I guess we have to take his word for it.

If JJ leaves, that should open up one.

IF we don't get an answer as to JJ's status in the University within the expected time frame, what happens next?

Didn't Liccardi just vacate a scholarship?

What happens is we are left in limbo and guys like Matthews will take the "sure thing" at Memphis, instead of waiting for Royce to make a decision already. This decision is now affecting kids all over America. Is JJ in or out? People need to know now. Worse case scenario is JJ is ultimately out and Royce waits so long to decide that all the quality replacements are long gone. That would be the double-whammy.
