The GSA Poker Shootout is this weekend, this is one of the few major events that the GSA hosts to raise funds to support student athletes. If you're around this weekend please consider attending!

I've volunteered at all of these (since I don't play) and I can tell you guys that in the first few years there was a seat at the WSOP on the line, because of that almost all of the players were really serious, it was a highly competitive environment, and it might've been a little more intimidating for the more casual player.

Last year the winnings were changed to a bulk cash prize and the atmosphere of the event changed a bit, we saw a lot of people show up to have fun, the amount of overall competitiveness scaled back, and people would find themselves around Griz fans that loved to play poker. This year should be more of the same, there's great prizes for the top finishers and you'll find yourself amongst great company of fellow Griz fans all over the state.

The money from this goes towards the scholarship funds of over 300 student athletes on campus, please consider playing, it should be a lot of fun.

Too bad they cannot do this thing online. It would be much more successful, even if they had to pay a hosting site. I bet a lot of non GRIZ fans would play online too. Bodog, or whatever it is called now, would be awesome.
