NCAA files their first report 6 months after the initial inquiry notice, January 30th is the date stamped on the NCAA initial inquiry letter sent to Royce Engstrom, so the end of July the NCAA should have something to say.
JJ... well he has been judged guilty by the complete sham of a honor court at UM, Engstrom sent him a farewell letter in the mail, and the last option for him is a BOR appeal. I think the BOR/Clay Christian are actually sitting on this right now mulling over their options. One hell of a lawsuit is going to ensue if they expel JJ as is, and no charges are filed. Im kinda hoping this happens as it might help clean out the trash at UM / BOR right now.
DOJ... the Missoula County DA is stonewalling them and telling them to F-off essentially atm. Im not sure what the University is doing/or not doing atm. I would even speculate that Engstrom/Aronofsky in fact called in the DOJ to investigate the city/county to take some of the heat off of them at the University. In a small yelling match a couple weeks ago Aranofsky denied this was the case to me on the phone. At least he stated he did not request the DOJ come to town.

Tokyo. You had me at 'small yelling match with Aronofsky on the phone'! Good on you!

I don't like the waiting for any of this crap. However, believe JJ, and his family deserve a final decision ASAP!!! JJ, and his family have been more than cooperative in all this BS. Waiting for a decision on him, does nobody involved, any good.
If he has to leave, let him find his alternate options. This also allows for the football team to move on,with or without JJ.
The things not involving JJ, need to be addressed too. The longer things remain in limbo, the more it impacts our recruiting for the upcoming year. Kudos to the coaches to doing as well as they have so far, despite the dragging on of the BS.

I suppose I could look this up, but I dont want to take the time. How does one go about giving their opinion on getting rid of current BOR members.
I would rather be fat drunk and stupid then be a bobcat.

I found this information regarding the BOR on a state web sight.
The governance and administration of the Montana University System is vested with the Board of Regents, which has full power, responsibility, and authority to supervise, coordinate, manage and control the Montana University System, and supervise and coordinate other public educational institutions assigned by law.
The Board consists of seven members appointed by the Governor, and confirmed by the Senate, to seven year overlapping terms. One of the members of the board shall be a student appointed by the Governor who is registered full-time at a unit of higher education under jurisdiction of the board. The length of the term of the student member is one year with possibility of reappointment to successive terms. (See Student Regent Appointment Profile for more information.)
The Governor, Superintendent of Public Instruction, and the Commissioner of Higher Education are ex-officio members of the Board.

The football staff is preparing as though the answer is 'JJ is expelled and will not play the 2012 season'. They are actively looking for a drop down QB.

Perhaps the staff realizes with the shit storm around him, he can't lead. I'd be very suprised if he has the amount of support from all the team that he has here.

I think it's safe to assume that you have never been part of a team.

If true, that would be a tough sell to a potential dropdown who is looking to transfer somewhere to be the starter.
"The starting QB job here at UM is wide open, unless last year's starting QB ends up not being expelled from school. In that case, he'll be the starter for the next two years and you'll have a chance to compete for the backup job should he get injured. Oh, by the way, we are the interim coaching staff and we'd sure like to be around next year as well, however, depending on who the new athletic director is, we may or may not be around."
“He has the physical ability, plus that intangible you can’t coach — leadership skill,” Reid said. “You can’t always find it. But you feel lucky when you find someone who has it. He has it all. He’s Dave Dickenson — one of greatest quarterbacks we’ve had here — in a bigger, stronger, more athletic body. That’s Travis Lulay.”

I think you've pretty well summarized the situation.

Engstrom has all but lynched JJ. If he isn't guilty, I would suggest that Engstrom seek out an alternate career.

What? Did you poll the same 10 women at your "specialty shop"(I'm guessing hair salon) that you polled yesterday? Did you ask them what they thought the team thought of the leadership of their quarterback? What you said is another one of the stupidest things I've ever read on this board. Your stacking them up like cordwood. I will guaran-fricking-tee you the team is 100% behind JJ, and your bs masquerading as reasoned opinion is getting obnoxious.

I think don't think he needs to be charged to have violated some of the student conduct code at UM. It is a privilege to play college football. These are two separate issues entirely. The UM administration has every right to be mad at what he did and take disciplinary action on him Do you all like having UM's name drug through the mud nationally? You realize JJ was a part of this right?
I do agree there needs to be a CLEANING HOUSE from top to bottom. That is the ONLY way you know for sure things will be on track for righting the ship.

My understanding is they've redefined the parameters and are now holding him to the new, looser definition of misconduct (and proof thereof)...

I must be the only lacky on this board feeling we did not need a house cleaning!
Further, another sober thought comes to mind, I now think we need a complete house cleaning!
Funny how a fire job can change ones mind! Rules be damned.

The football coaches are searching for a new QB because they realize that JJ will be immersed in appeals to the Board of Regents etc. likely over the next 6 months or more. Likely, this situation causes, in the short term, 2012 to become JJ's red shirt year.
My guess, is that he will 'win' on the appeals process to the extent that the University will re-hear his expulsion case. If he is expelled again, then that's it. He's gone for good. If, on the other hand, he is found to be worthy to stay in school, then he will play the 2013 season as a Junior.
The prospect, for the short term, is that it is unlikely JJ will be playing football in the 2012 season.

Never thought of that possibility. In hindsight, it might be a good thing his RS was not used as a true FR.
