There is no frickin way Appy will win this game with a 3-4 defense! First of all their nose tackle is only 275 and then their 4 lB's are 207, 210, 210 and 225 heck both our FB's are much bigger than that. Our line is huge and have good feet. We will steam roll a 3-4 especially with a 275 NT. We will flat out beat them up in the trenches! Now, let's just hope Mick doesn't screw anything up.

Then I notice 2 of their LB's are only Fr. and the NT is a So.

I'm pretty sure they're defense will put up resistence. I do agree if we can control the TOP by the end of the game they will be awfully tired. Should be a great game!

The starting NT is probably in the 280s 290 range. App isn't exactly known for their updating of the roster. He is also a redshirt Soph, so he's been actually been up here quite a while. The entire starting DL was in the same recruiting class. You'll also probably see 3 or so guys rotating at the NT spot, as its our deepest position on the defense.

John Law at LB is also a RS fresh. Played some last year behind Jeremy Kimbrough, was granted a med RS.

The 2 freshmen LBs on the roster:

App has quite the history of great freshmen LBs.

Even if the NT is 290 which I highly doubt after a month of practices in the southern heat and humidity, there is know way he will be able to endure a steady dose of 295, 290 and 345 center and guards all game. Even with a steady platoon of NT, we match the depth in our O'L that does not lose any weight advantage. It might be somewhat possible if there was some beef to the Appy LB corp. But those young light guys being hammered by our line will totally wear them down. Heck our FB out weighs most of the LB by 25 pounds to a man. Mick can't even screw this game up as a coach. All the Griz have to do is ground and pound!

Another observation i have concerning the Appy passing game. Early in the season timing is a lil rough and with the vaunted crowd noise that is indigenous to WaGriz stadium the receivers will have a tough time. They will have their timing thrown off just a tad and that will aid our DB's. I don't mean to be cocky, but I see the Griz controlling this game, especially after mid 3rd qrt.

We're in the mountains. It rarely gets above 80 degrees here.

Plus, we have Wofford's Defensive Coordinator now running our defense. He seemed to do well in his last trip to Missoula with undersized guys. :D

I have too much respect for asu to say anything about steamrolling anybody.....if they start as true freshman, it will be because they earned it and can play better than any upper classman they may have....remember what they say about the size of the dog in the fight.....I would rather under promise and over produce....go griz.......

It wasn't Woffords D that we had a problem with that day. We moved the ball on them very well. It was their option offense that killed us. An NFL Pro Bowl kicker who was on that Griz team did something he very rarely did that day, and he missed a chip shot FG on the last play of the game. He is now the highest paid kicker in the NFL. I will be the first one to call myself a Richard Cranium if I'm wrong about this game.

I'm not sure it was a chip shot wasn't it like a 48 yarder? Granted Carps was usually money under 50.

Boy.. That was a tough pill to swallow. So much talent on that team.

Depth chart for the appy game will be slightly different, one of the Griz first teamers will not be playing that game.

Richard Cranium said:
I just youtube'd that game and it was a 48 yard miss wide left. But like u said Hammer, Carp was pretty much money inside of 50

I thought it was good from my vantage point in sec 130. That was one of the toughest losses I can remember. I told everybody around me "Game Over" before the kick. I was correct, the game was over but not the team that I thought!

Also, the highest paid kicker in the NFL is janakowski at 3.5 million a year.

WaGriz is a very, very tough place to win. App will have their work cut out for them and I wouldn't be surprised at all if Montana comes out on top.

However, leading up to last year's game, I remember hearing that there was no way the App State OL and DL could hold up for a full game against Montana. The Griz had just as much of a size advantage up front in 2012 and App was able to hold their own. The front seven gives up some size but they are very athletic.

I'd be surprised if we did not see another tight game. Anyone expecting to see Montana steamroll App will probably be disappointed.

ANY Griz fan worth his or her salt understsands this will not be a steamroller for either school--it shapes up as another epic battle in this classy series!
