Well, I debated as to how many spots the Griz would drop ... after a valiant effort on the road with the #1 team, defending champion, etc, etc. I finally leaned toward only three. That was partly because #3 SE Louisiana lost to an unranked team (close game, but SE Missouri State hasn’t even been receiving votes in the TSN poll). So I figured the Griz had to end up ahead of them. The way things worked out, that put the Griz down near Jacksonville State. J-State won by just 11 points, giving up 34 points to a Division-II opponent. (West Alabama is ranked something like #20 in the D-II polls.) So ... Griz should be ahead of them also.
It would not surprise me if the kitties actually moved up after coming so close with the #2 opponent. I decided “no harm, not foul” because they were on their home field, and left them at #14.
I dropped NAU and Furman from the top-25 because they started out so far down and both lost to unranked opponents. That left two open spots and I figured Illinois State, being #2 in the MV, would get the nod. Then I debated between Albany and Delaware (2-1) for the second spot, but the Blue Chickens were idle this weekend, and haven’t looked all that great.
Monday should be interesting.
