Passing Efficiency:
4 of the Top 7 FCS leaders we have already faced or will face, #1 Jordan West (EWU); #2 Case Cookus (NAU); #4 Prukop; #7 Wentz (NDSU)

The Uh Oh to come stat: Total Offense FCS #1 Prukop; #3 Jordan West

Total Tackles: FCS #11 Van Ackeren (57) and #39 Kose (48), (Sankey of Sac St leads the FCS nation)

Holmes ranks #1 in FCS in sacks and #4 in Tackles for a loss

JR Nelson leads BSC in solo tackles for a CB (17), the guy has open field tackles down

Montana has 2 receivers ranked in the Top 50 for receiving yards (Jones #11 and Hendu #49) but Eastern Wash has 3 (Kupp #1, Bourne #12, Sblendorio#35)

Chase and Jones are tied for #14 FCS in receptions (35 a piece)

We weren't listed anywhere for things like KOR and rushing, but it is still midseason

Wouldn't hold your breath on those ones.

EWU's receivers will give our secondary a hell of a workout.

Thx for calling this to our attention, Faraway. I think the Griz are up near the top in team sacks too. In TFL, while Holmes is up near the top, the team is down at about 42.

Agreed EWU's receivers will be a challenge for our secondary.
Though our D line and linebackers pass rush / blitz will give EWU's QB a hell of a workout.
It will be an interesting game. Go Griz! :ugeek:

They then go to the conventional screens like Davis did, only better. Can't really defend with an all-out rush, especially doubling Kupp. I suspect Baldwin will see the film. Any blitzes will have to be well disguised.

You mean like the screens we picked off. Twice?

Total Defense rank #40 - North Dakota, Portland St, and Southern Utah are the only teams ahead of us in the Big Sky

Redzone Offense rank #66

Redzone Defense rank #31

I think we have played better than our rank, but still not where we need to be.

Individual leaders are nice but football is a team sport and we have a couple issues to work out still.

1. 6th in the con in turnover margin with -1.

2. 1st in the con in red zone scoring opportunities and 10th in RZ scoring % at 78% and dead last in TD's scored off RZ opportunities with 39%.

3. 10th in the con in 3rd down conversion %. To counter this last stat, we are 2nd in the con in 3rd down conversions allowed.

I'm not saying anything like these #'s will doom us but they are deffenetly some issues we have to work on to help us be more successful this season.

EWU and MSU have great offenses. With that said, I fully expect the GRIZ Defense to hold each offense to under their season averages. Meanwhile, their defenses will allow our offense to look great. Holding either team to around 30 points should mean GRIZ victories.

I'd love to hold MSU to less than 10 points again this year! :D
