Started at beginning of year. Hurt ankle. Graduating. Moving on for one year. Hasn't played alot, but was the starter at Boise St. at beginning of last year. Probably very talented. Probably a terrific get for the Cats, if he comes.

He's graduating in 3 years. Still has 2 to play. Would be a RS JR this fall.

From the ISU board, FWIW:

Let's talk about Finley for a minute. He had a massive uphill battle to get back his starting position. He started 3 games last year, Washington, BYU and Idaho State. He broke his ankle early in the ISU game. He had surgery and is now just getting back to playing form. He probably could receive a medical red shirt, if that's possible with him already having a red shirt year. If he gets the extra year, he has 3 years of eligibility left.

He's a mobile QB and can throw bullets down field. I'm not sure he makes the best decisions though. I believe in those games, he had 1 touchdown and 4 interceptions. I really think many do not give him credit for what he faced. In games that he started, BSU ended up 2-1. His first game with any real playing time was also his first start against Washington and he had a very serviceable game. Next was the BYU mess. Again, he was serviceable with nothing great, but the defense gave that game away on what, 3 incredibly poorly executed defensive plays. Then there were the few plays in the ISU game before getting hurt. The first 2 games would be tough for anyone's career. He was just okay. No disrespect intended but many fans thought that the ISU game would be a confidence builder, the shot in the arm to get him comfortable for the remaining season.

All in all, I think Ryan will be playing somewhere this fall, whether it's FCS or FBS. I believe he would be a nice addition to Idaho State. However, something tells me he may want to be closer to home, the Phoenix area. I wish him the best of luck where ever he lands. He seems to be a good kid.

I'd be suprised if he goes to boz state. Their current QB transfer looked great in their scrimmage in GF, throwing for a lot of TDs.

Course it was against a horrible D. One that puts the spaces in D-F-E-N-C-E.

Graduating from an institution with stratospheric academics like BSU in just 3 years is quite an achievement.

Bump.

Despite early derision from cat fans about player turnover here, Choate is hurrying to catch up with Stitt on roster moves.

BOZEMAN — The Montana State football team added two new players but also said goodbye to three others Tuesday.

MSU coach Jeff Choate announced the addition of transfer defensive linemen Brandon Hayashi of Citrus College (Calif.) and Fou Polataivao from the College of San Mateo (Calif.).

“We always look for ways to improve the team, and there are a number of avenues,” Choate said. “We’re always excited to add players with the character of Fou and Brandon.”

Choate also announced the departure of defensive end Zach Hutchins and linebackers Wyatt Christensen and Sam Plucker on Tuesday.

“Zach and Wyatt both decided their time as football players is at an end,” Choate said. “They’ve each had a number of injuries, but I’m very happy for each young man that they’ll finish at Montana State academically and graduate. Sam decided that he wants to pursue other options, perhaps closer to home, and we wish him the best.”

This rumor went by the wayside today as Ryan Finley is headed to North Carolina State. He wanted to play for his ex-offensive coordinator at Boise State Eli Drinkwitz and an ex-Grizzly coach Dave Doeren who is the head coach at North Carolina State.

Damn. So who is throwing picks for Bozeman State this fall? Do they still have Snake Pliskin, or is it that Hoyt guy?
