FCS Games (Oct 1)

North Carolina A&T, a ranked FCS team (#22, not high, but ...) is playing right now on ESPN-U (DTV 208). They lead Hampton, 7-0 ... but I can't they look like a powerhouse football team. But lot's of time to go.

Tomorrow night, there are two FCS games on, including #25 Harvard at home against Georgetown. Have not found a broadcast for that. Penn at Dartmouth (neither ranked) is on at DTV channel 220.

Not sure what this says: Hampton is not a particularly good team ... and makes too many key mistakes. Yet NC A&T, playing at home, can't seem to put them away. At least the FBS games have had some points scored.

In a battle of non-ranked, Penn is beating up on Dartmouth at the half, 28-10. Meanwhile, according to the posted score (not anywhere on TV that we can find), #25 Harvard is beating up on Georgetown 24-7 with 3-4 min left in the half.

The Harvard game is on espn3. I know they're ranked but I've seen better high school football. PR must be upset about DM. They were undefeated before this shellacking at home.

The SDSU/WIU is the best non big sky game NDSU v Ill St is also a good matchup.

Not FCS, but who would have thunk it? Washington is beating the crap out of Stanford, 30-0, with less than 5 min left in Q3. The Stanford QB has been sacked something like 6-8 times.

# 25 Harvard won handily, BTW.

Can't find any games with ranked FCS team on TV early :(

If you have a strong stomach, Alcorn State is at Arkansas starting at 10:00 am ... and the game is supposedly being broadcast on SEC-TV (DTV 611 or 611-1). Hope Alcorn is getting a huge paycheck. But why would the conference network show an FCS matchup when they have other games to chose from? Weird ... and may show something different tomorrow morning.

If you have internet and a cable provider, the NDSU game is on ESPN3. Cal Po and UND are on Watch Big Sky which you don't need a cable provider for, just Internet. Both games are at noon mountain time.

No surprise here: Chattanooga pounding East Tennessee State 17-0. (Streaming on SoCon Digital Network if anyone is interested).

On DirecTV (608) we have the thrilling matchup ... Princeton at Columbia. Last I looked, Princeton led 13-6.

Meanwhile, wonder of wonders, Arkansas slipped up and let Alcorn score, so the lead is only 24-7.

Good back-and-forth battle at NDSU, trading the lead. Right now, NDSU leads 14-10. (Available on DirecTV 790.)

So far three upsets of ranked teams:
North Dakota over #16 Cal Poly, 31-24
New Hampshire over #19 William & Mary, 21-12
Missouri State over #24 Indiana State, 45-24 (ouch)

#12 Northern Iowa cruising, 42-21.
Back-and-forth between #10 Chas Southern and #14 Coastal C, currently 30-29 CSU.
#15 SDSU leading #8 W Illinois, 21-14, lots of time left.
SEMO leading #13 E Illinois, 14-7, lots of time.

FYI, Portland State is crushing Idaho State 45-14, early in Q4.

Chance for the Griz to move up at least one spot: #15 SDSU leads #8 Western Illinois, 38-14, midway thru Q3.

#14 Coastal Carolina and #10 Chas Southern in OT. CC scored first, a TD, so CSU has to match them or another team ahead of the Griz could go down.

After scoring a TD in the second OT, CC went for 2 and failed -- so #10 Chas Southern wins 59-58. Had hopes of two spots opening up ahead of the Griz. (Not out of the question the Griz could jump CSU after such a close one.)

Meanwhile, SDSU has extended its lead over W Illinois ... 52-14. So the Griz seem likely move up at least one spot.

Looks like a total of seven ranked teams lost today ... three of which were bound to happen since the games matched two ranked teams. Griz should move up one spot for sure since #8 W Illinois lost. #10 Chas Southern being taken into double-OT could get the Griz enough votes to jump them ...but I rather doubt it.

Except for the Towson at Richmond game (31-28 for the Spiders), the top-ranked teams won by some pretty big margins, so there's not much to look for on that point.
