Men's Tennis-Best Griz Fall ever!!

So first I must admit I have not been a good supporter of Men's Tennis and actually have spoken negatively about having a team here on eGriz. Well after the fall season that these guys had, I have done a complete 180 and I am fully behind them and really looking forward to the spring schedule. I figured some on here might not be aware just how impressive their fall was so I decided to do a recap to catch everyone up.

The men played in four Invitationals reaching levels never seen by Grizzlies before each time. Combined in their singles matches, they had a 67% winning percentage. Against the Big Sky in head to head match ups they were even better winning at a 79% clip and against the Bobcats specifically they went 7-0. Here's a recap of each one.

Idaho St Invitational(Pocatello Id)
The Griz won all three tournament draws plus one of the consolation draws taking 4 of the 6 championships. Those were the 1st tourney wins for any current Griz on the roster, where there had only been a couple previously in school history.
Dar Walters Classic(Boise Id)
Montana was the only team to have participants in two different finals. Victor Casadevall was the 1st ever Montana Men's tennis player to make a finals at the classic. One of the biggest wins in Griz history belonged to Yannick Schmidl where he defeated the #3 seed from #24 ranked Oregon out of a field of 128.
ITA Mountain Regional(Provo Ut)
Victor Casadevall became the 1st Griz to ever advance to the final 8 of the Mountain Regional before losing to the #2 seed from Utah. Alexander Canellopoulos had a big win also, defeating the #14 seed and last years tourney winner, also from Utah.
Bulldog Classic(Spokane Wa)
The Griz added two more titles from the six draws at Gonzaga plus another reaching the finals capping maybe the greatest fall season in the history of Montana tennis.

Here's a recap of the six Griz at their tourney's.

Kris Nord has done a wonderful job recruiting some excellent talent.
I have know Kris for many years, but I wasn’t aware that he is retiring?

Kris is not retiring. He has moved over to be Head Coach full time of the UM Women's golf team.

That is a plus for women’s golf and a loss for men’s tennis.

Maybe not a total loss, after all his replacement is who coached the men’s tennis team last fall and I’d say they did alright. Plus I’m sure he’ll still help out with coaching advice when needed.

Thanks, I wasn’t aware of that. Our family has known Kris for many years and think highly of him.
