Well I am thinking it is gonna be someone from the west - seems the first round is regional, then who knows who. I just have a feeling the Griz will play out west against a western team. Would love to see an eastern team travel out west to make it more even though! So who you say ilovethecats?
 
I've never really thought the "regional" part of the pairings really mattered. The Grizzlies will get someone more noteable than St. Mary's. But I would be very happy with that pick if it really turned out that way.

I wonder how many Western teams will actually make the tournament. The Pac 12 is a mess. Does anyone see more than one team making it from each western conference aside from probably Gonzaga and St. Mary's?

I think the Mountain West will get 3, maybe 4 teams into the dance. UNLV, San Diego State, New Mexico and maybe Colorado State, but I think CSU is a stretch.
 
Long Beach State winning, just helped us a lot. Now, I am pulling for LA Tech to beat New Mexico State.

Right now I am thinking, the Baylor loss to Missouri makes that a very likely match up for us.
I would love to see us match up with any of the MWC teams, but the way the tournament played out, I think UNLV, and SDSU fell out of a 3 or 4 seed. I doubt UNM will be boosted that high, either.

They all look like 6 to 9 seeds to me.

St Marys will not be seeded high enough either.
Colorado Will not be boosted high enough either, in weak Pac 12.

If it is not Baylor, I see Marquette, Louisville, Cincinnati, Florida, Memphis, Creighton, Florida State, Michigan, Georgetown, Indiana, and Wisconsin as possible matchups in ALB, or Omaha.

I honestly will be surprised if we are in Portland. Selfishly, I want the GRIZ to be a 12 or 13 in Albuquerque. My brother, and I will be there next weekend anyway. :thumb:
 
I don't think we will be in Portland. We would have to be a 12 or 13 seed and I think we are going to get stuck with a 14.
Joe Lunardi has us the 14 playing against Baylor in Albuquerqu. That seems like a good possibility. Of all the teams being thrown out there I think I dislike Baylor the most. That is a really tough match-up for us. They have some really athletic bigs.
I really like our chances of winning a game or two in this thing, but of course it will all come down to match-ups. Hopefully we don't get Baylor, in my humble opinion that is one team that is really not a favorable pairing for us and our chances of winning.
 
Lunardi has South Dakota State as a 13 in portland playing Indiana....that would be a very, very good spot and matchup.
 
I too want nothing to do with Baylor. I think they would be a terrible matchup for us. I would rather be a 15 and play Duke. Their bigs have not been very productive as of late, and they too play a pretty short bench. Guard the perimeter hard and contest all their 3's...could be an ok matchup fot the Griz!

I would really like it to be Michigan, and Indiana would be good too, especially if in Portland.

Can't wait.....
 
My guess would be a 14, taking on Baylor in Albuquerque... don't like that matchup but looks like a good possibility to me.

That and Missouri are probably the worst matchups we could get in that 13-14-15 range...

Yep, agreed. Baylor would be a really tough matchup, but unfortunately regionally seems like that is the way things might play out.
