The spring signing period for coaches/programs to sign recruits to Letter Of Intent (LOI) does end on the 15th. After May 15th college coaches can still sign players up until classes start in the fall (or later), but they can not sign them to an official LOI. A LOI is a very specific standardization contract document. What the recruits sign is a letter/contract of scholarship commitment (there are a handful of names for these documents). The main difference is the documents sign after May 15th only guarantees that an athlete will be awarded a 1 year scholarship the for the upcoming school year fall. It locks in the school BUT NOT the athlete. None of the NCAA rules that lock a player into a program apply until that athlete attends his first class. Only a Letter of Intent can lock an athlete into the NCAA rules. An athlete can sign with a university after May 15th but he can change his mind at any time and sign with another school with no penalty.GrizWhiz said:I believe the latest NCAA deadline for signing a letter of intent is tomorrow, May 15. Does this apply to transfers too? Perhaps Mslacat or another knowledgeable person can shed some light on this.![]()
