NAU - Events

Tailgating: Montana is the second best per-capita beer consuming state (New Hampshire cheats), so it isn't surprising there is a lot of tailgating, at least by the Montana people I know. Maybe the NAU alumni tradition of drinking from dawn on HC game day contributes to their no-shows after halftime.

UCLA fans start tailgating at 5:30 AM for their games. LSU and Ole Miss play evening games on Saturdays and they start Friday night. At Auburn, for a 6:30 PM Saturday kickoff, tailgaters start showing up at 7:30 AM -- on Thursday. The annual Florida-Georgia game is considered by many to be the world’s largest tailgate party. The game takes place on Saturday, but many fans begin arriving on Wednesday and don’t leave until Sunday.

What team do think these fans are for?

Fact: According to studies, it is estimated that 30% of tailgaters never make it inside the stadium.

I'm suspicious of any list of top tailgates that has CU at #10.
Or any list that ranks LSU at #3. Those guys are a bunch of drunken, debaucherous maniacs armed with grills, deep fryers and monstrous jambalaya pots. Throw in the hot co-eds "flashing" for beads and you have the makings of an epic party!!

True, although I've seen them on more than one list. Such lists always need to be taken with a grain of salt. However, you can get some insights from viewing several, and there are a lot of lists out there. The link I provided is just one, and I provided that because of the maroon-clad tailgaters. The sleeve of one fan looks like it has a silver stripe.

-- GSA tailgate, 1:00-3:00 p.m., Skydome parking lot. Typically there is "food and beverage available to purchase at road tailgates. More information about away game tailgates can be found at http://www.gogriz.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; during football season or by calling 406.243.5405. These tailgates are open to the public."

Question: WHERE is the GSA tailgate? I was told repeatedly by the NAU staff that there were NO tailgating spots available unless I purchased a season pass, and when I stated I wanted to be near the UM Alumni spot they informed me there WAS no such spot set aside for the UM alumni....

College Football: Ranking the 50 Loudest Stadiums
By Tom Perry on October 18, 2011

49. Washington-Grizzly Stadium (Montana)
We don't normally dip down into the FCS ranks to find a competitor for the loudest stadium, but Washington-Grizzly Stadium can't be overlooked. Montana may only pack 26,000 into the stadium, but they show up no matter how cold or miserable it is outside. Therefore, they are feisty and primed to make some noise.

Ah. Well, as stated in the other NAU thread, I'll be tailgating in P65 in/around my big black Tundra quad-cab 4-door with Griz banners flying. Come over and say hello! :thumb:
